I have a good number of Willys kits but this is the first one I have built. Dale talked so much about how good this kit was I just had to get one and he is right it is very nice. No flash and very few light mold lines and nice detail. I don't have much to show at this point and the pictures are as good as it gets for two o'clock in the morning shots. I have some good ideas for this build I think.
Just started the engine, got the carburetors from Iceman and they are perfect for this engine. Still have wiring and all to do to it. The color on this is Dark Cherry Pearl Lacquer and I really like it. It will look better to you when I take better pictures. I put three coats on the body and sanded with 2500 grit each coat. The body still has to be rubbed out but the hood is rubbed out and clear coated and finished.

Here is the finished engine except the exhaust which I will put on later. It came out pretty well I think. The plug wires aren't green like they look. They're really a blue green teal like color. Darker and look good I think. I wish the true color had come out in the pictures. But Alas!! The color is called Peacock.

I'm doing some detailing and all so a lot of parts are drying but I wanted to post something. This is some of what is dry and ready to go. I added PE stereo with speakers on the console and PE air conditioning with vents on the dash. Glassed in the gauges and wire wrapped the rear shocks. I've been waiting for the right build to use the flame floor mats and this is the one. I really like them. I was able to detail the little tiny nuts around the steering wheel center. Hard to do without messing it up but I dood it.

Tom I use a simple method to give the gauges a "glassed in" look. I mix five minute epoxy and use a knife blade or exacto and dip up some epoxy and let it run on to the gauge. You may have to just touch the gauge with the tip of the blade to get the epoxy to flow onto the gauge. Set the dash level and when it dries you get the glass look, as you can see. Try it you will like it.

Here is the frame with the engine and wheels mounted and finished. You can't see them here but the wire wrapped shocks look pretty good installed. My wife got a kick out of the oil filters. Did a little detailing to the wheels. I thought the body paint came out well. I'll set up for much better pictures when I take the finished shots. The body on the frame shot is without the interior in, it won't sit this way finished. Getting close to finishing this one.
