Since I didn't get my motm truck done I've decided to add a tilt bed to it. Would I be best to do it like door hinges with heavier gauge wire or is there another method that would be better. I need it to lift a little before it tilts so it will clear the bumper and not scrape the cab back.

Look at some of the kits that have tilt forward front ends. Most have to go up then tilt . This might give you an idea of what you need or how to make it. Just a thought

I would go with to sizes of plastic tube myself mate, a bit more solid and will take the mass of a whole tray better i think. You could also use the same principal and do a telescopic hoist for it too maybe...... Interesting idea mate, look forward to seeing the progress.

This works for a tilt front end maybe you can make it work on the bed.
