I used to use Testors and never had much of an issue, but at $4 per can and only getting about 2 1/2 bodies sprayed with a can I decided to look for something more economical. Enter Rustoleum Automobile primer. This can was 4-5 times the size of the Testors can and less money. I sprayed the NASCAR with this primer and everything ended up ok. Now that I am working on these Deoras I can't get the primer to stick in the bed of the truck. It is only in the back of the truck that I am having issues. Any suggestions? Should I try a different primer?

Automotive primer works great. I've used it a couple of times but it can also get expensive. The majority of my builds have good ol Walmart primer. I forget the exact brand but it's the cheap stuff. A few coats and the usual sanding and it's worked well so far.
With the issue you're having try water and soap if you haven't already. Let dry and maybe some rubbing alcohol. Repeat the water and soap and try again. There might be some chemical residue left.

I also use Walmart primer. I use others but Walmart works just fine. I think Iceman is right, you have some molding residue still on the plastic. Warm soap and water bath works fine for that. Rinse it well after washing with soap and water and let it dry completely. Then prime it again.

I always use a quality automotive primer myself, but i also only use automotive paint for color and clear coat, i have found mixing brands and types usually leads to disaster, but that might not be good if $4 a can is too expensive, i pay $20 for primer, and about $13 for duplicolor cans, but i do get 3-4 cars out of it. I also get a small jar mixed on the occasion from my local auto paint store too, that way i can mix and match colors.

I'll check on it when I get home today. The bodies may need another swim in the purple power. I never did wash them so I will try that next. The other parts turned out ok.

JK, that primer is the same stuff that destroyed my chop top cab and bed. Thought it would work well but never thought it would ruin it. Watch out for that stuff!! Chas.
