Ok everyone , i hope all take a minute to read my little rant, I think it will help out especially alot of the newer members. This is general information and its not directed at anyone just trying to be helpful and keep JsCs a fun place for us all !!
Pictures ! Very important that you take good clear pictures. I dont care how many you take but the first five you post must be the required pictures . Two body shots ( any angle front back side dose not matter ), one interior, one engine and one frame. These are listed in the rules of every contest. Each of these pictures could count up to 10 points if you use the scoring sheets. You might have built the nicest model in the world but if you only post three or four of the required pictures you most likely would lose if the voter is using the voting sheets ( also located in the rules of every contest )
Posts ! like I said post as many pics as you want, write a paragraph describing ever little detail you did . When it comes to voting all that matters is the five required photos. There are threads in the how to section and tutorials section on how to post using photo bucket and others. Also consider sizing your photos. I use picasa to size and crop my pictures before loading them on to photobucket.
Voting probably the most important of all !! Vote ! Dont complain if you dont vote. If you vote vote for all races or contests. ( so often we will have Round Two with four races and 1. will have 14 votes 2. will have 13 votes 3. will have 16 votes and 4. will have 15 votes ). Vote with your mind not your heart. Just like in real contests we need to have ethics . Dont vote for a car just because its a buddy ( or and admin !! ), dont do just because its your favorite brand or car. Always try to pick the best car. So often I dont even vote for my own car because I think the other car is truly the better build. Beware the wow factor,,, just because a build has a great paint job or interior or detailed engine dont over look the rest. Make sure the whole build is quality and remember if the required picture isnt there it would score a zero. I know most dont use the score sheets but when I used to judge I always used them. I still do. I have one blank sheet to look at and then I use a note pad, i write the name of the car on the top and then as I look at the 5 required pics I read the questions off the score sheet, i write me scores on the note pad and I get my total. I do this for each car and then as the meet in the bracket i pull out my pad i look at my scores and the high score gets my vote. If there is a tie then I look at the pics again to make sure I didnt miss any thing and then I pic my favorite of the two.
More important remember this is all for fun, most of the prizes and all of the shipping come out of the admins pockets ( yes we do get prize donations from time to time )but thats why we do it. Jerrys Cherrys is like family to me and I have never meet any of you guys ( of except Chris Wheaton , hell of a guy , invited me and my girl friend to his town for a model contest, great time ) I wish we could all meet but since we now have several members from across the pond it would be tough. In closing let me just say keep building and keep trying. Thats what makes us better builders. an if you dont like contests thats fine too but support the members and Jerrys Cherrys by voting . Its much more fun to win a contest that had 40, 50, or 60 voters then to win one that had six. Thanks for reading , i owe you each 5.00 for your time, just checking to see if anyone read the whole thing !
