This is my first build of my 56 theme I'm doing (year I was born) so I decided to try to get it in this months MOTM. I hope I can get it done but the kit isn't an example of Revell's best work. Lots of flash, thin spots, and poor fit. I do think it has potential though.

A 56 Chevy pro street. I wanna see that!! these HOT ROD kits all have a lot of flash from old tooling. But I bet you can make it look great!

Thanks guys. I'm dropping a 454 in this from the Baldwin Motion 70 1/2 Camaro and topping it with a Kobelco blower with Webers on it. I'm also swapping out the tranny for a T-5 6 speed unit.

going to be a killer ride. don't see too many 56's. there is a great contingency of pro streeters here and you will have us watching this build. if i can ask, where did the resin pieces come from? they look very sharp and crisp.

here is a little inspiration (don't think you need it, but what the heck) this is what i had planned for my 56 build but i have way too many projects in front of it. what are you going to use for a chassis. the 67 chevelle fits really well under the 55. should fit the same under that one. are you going outlaw hood or let those webbers stick thru the hood? Here's the engine after painting. What looks like the distributor is not. It is a crank position sensor because I'm using coil modules. I had them for another build but when I saw the clearance issue with the supercharger I decided to use them here. The plenum for the Webers is an extra manifold that came with my Viper kit. I just sawed off a couple of cylinders and smoothed it out. I had to fab the intake as well because I didn't have anything that would fit. Came out okay I think.

Finally got the engine pretty much done. Just needs some minor touch ups. The air filters were a real tussle. Time to start on the body. Got to attach the chrome trim first.

coming along real nice. like the coil packs. gives it a modern flair. good job on the air cleaners too, worth the tussle.

Put this under the heading of "Take Nothing for Granted". Grafted the wide wheel wells to the stock chassis and I thought that the engine swap would be cake but it looks a little close to get the radiator in. I may have to cut the firewall a bit to move the engine back. aaargh! This isn't the ride height because the wheels are just stuck under there but I wanted to get an idea of the look. Now if I can avoid the honey do list I can get finished in time. If not I'll have to move this to another thread.

If not I'll have to move this to another thread. i have run into the same problem a few times. you need a LOT of room... that's a big motor. if you try moving the motor back, you may try to shave some of the flooring down under the chassis first to make the floor thinner so the bell housing has a little more clearance and will slide back a little more. or try this,,,, take the stock radiator support and cut it into 2 pieces. cut all the plastic out where the radiator would be. then glue the pieces STRAIGHT into the grooves in the body. mount small plastic strips on the front sides of the core support extending the radiator towards the front of the car. hit the parts box for a shorter radiator. the one supplied in the kit may be too tall and may hit the hood. you should have it licked. i really suck at discribing things so if i didn't make myself clear, i will try to find a picture of what i am talkiing about.

This sounds like what I did with the 64' Dodge - and that 56' of yours has a LOT of room to work with behind the grille !
