Unfortunately for me, this huge city of about 675,000 people only has one hobby shop that has a dedicated section to model cars. Yes there is HL and Michaels but not the same to visit a hobby shop, owned by someone locally. It smells different, you're greeted, they know about the hobby, it feels different, and it feels good not having to spend money on the national retailers keeping their foot on the local mom and pop shops. Sadly, sometimes that's exactly what causes local hobby shops to close down. I just talked to a guy in California that says that happened near him. He went down there just to see what was going on. He bought over 700 kits....at $1 a piece! ONE DOLLAR EACH! I'd empty out my piggy bank and buy everything but the building! That will never happen near me. But for those of you that have more hobby shops in the area, keep your ears to the ground and your eyes peeled. It's sad for the owners but you can make a getaway with a pretty good deal, I bet! ONE. DOLLAR. EACH. MODEL. CAR! Wow! big-drooling-smiley-emoticon

At a dollar a kit I'd jump on the plane and still save some cash.
