In January of 2006 I had enough of the PT Cruiser (seen in the thread titled Sometimes the Past Comes Back to Haunt Us) and needed something different. My dad suggested I look at a Pontiac GTO. At first I thought he was joking but he never started laughing. I did the research, ran the numbers, and all signs pointed to me being able to make this deal happen. I knew I wanted a 2006 with a manual transmission. So I went to our Pontiac dealer one night and found the one I wanted. Brazen Orange metallic. Now, as you have seen in my 1:1 thread I don't have a Brazen Orange GTO, but I'll get to that. It was a beautiful color and looked mean at night staring into her eyes. The next day I went to the dealership, found my salesman, and asked to see their GTOs. As we get there I tell him my specifics. "I want a 2006 with a 6 speed". So we look at a couple to the left "here are a few 05s we have left" me pointing to the orange one: no I want this one. Then to the right "here are a few 06s with automatics" me pointing to the orange one: no, I want this one. "These 2 are 06s with manual transmissions... the blue one has blue interior" me now intrigued by the blue leather: I want THAT one! I drove it around the block and then after a day of back and forth bartering I took her home. 9 years and 36,000 miles later and I still get chills getting behind the wheel. This model is an 04 GTO so it isn't EXACTLY what I have but I did my best to replicate with what I had to work with. I have always thought about painting my wheels black so that is how I did this one.
