Well my Fujimi porsche arrived today. The body has had the top squashed and is now twisted and flattened down. I dont want to send it back as I probably wont find another one so was hoping someone has a suggestion as to how to repair it.

Convertible-ize it Or maybe start a demolition derby diorama I honestly do not know what you could do to fix this, short of heating it up ever so slightly and trying to push / form it back into place

have 1 too many beers... it will look straight then....
heard a lot of ways to fix that, never tried any. the one I would trust is put it in hot water till the plastic gets plyable. bent the roof back to shape and put it in the freezer for a bit.

Then after it comes out of the freezer, add some Hershey's chocolate syrup and have a plastic sundae!!!
OMG - LOL - I kill myself!!!

Heat it up in water, shape it, then slap one of those pillow sized packing thingies (like bubble wrap) inside it to try and hold the shape. Repeat as necessary.

OK thanks guys, looks like a bit of work in front of me. Should I glue the cracks first or glue them after straightening it?

I would probably glue afterwards, in case they will need putty work anyways - after the whole, dip and heat, pack and ship procedures

I have tried a method that worked a large percentage of the time. A candle, blow dryer, stove, or really hot water for a heat source. Get the plastic soft. Do some forming and it should come close. Next step is a wierd one. Play doh or plummers putty. Press it into the entire inside of the roof but first use some saran wrap and line the inside of the roof. Shape it just the way you want it. When you get the roof looking like it should stuff it in the freezer for a couple of days. Remove the body, let it get to room temp, remove the putty and saran wrap and see what results you have! Cant hurt to try it. No cutting or modifications. Worst result is it remains like it was!!

It thanks to you that I bought it Dennis, I was on ebay and remembered that you suggested the fujimi enthusiast series kits. It's probably the most detailed kit I have in my stash

I have the rare Ferrari Dino kit with over 300 parts and 3 different Lamborghini kits all Enthusiast. Very very nice kits with fabulous detail.

Yeah I had a look through the parts and they are really nice. I have some spares from another of their porsche kits I'm using on the bug, and some chassis parts I can use for the og bugs when I get to them. This one will be box stock though, and its from the year I was born too which is kinda cool

After looking at the pics again, the c-pillar looks fine, all the twist is towards the front. All of those pillars are relatively thin and should be easy to bend. No here comes the fun part ...
My twisted little brain was a thinkin, and I wondered what that spray insulation foam would do ? Warm up the plastic, tape up the window openings and a good portion of the open underside, then spray a few blasts in there. When that stuff expands it will push (and more importantly, HOLD) against the body before it finds a way out through the bottom. Maybe use some baby powder on the inside of the body to easy in removal.
Don't know if it will work, but this is what happens when you ask rednecks (me) for help !! running-around-smiley-emoticon

Redneck or not - that sounds like a good idea Duster - that foam stuff is pretty strong, I know. Just need to tape it good to hold it all back, and for sure, the baby powder will help to remove it
