This is a GMP sprint car KIT. GMP makes a lot of diecast models but very few kits. I included a pic of the kit in the box so you could see I didn't buy a diecast car and take pictures of it. I'll bet people do. This was an extremely well made kit and went together beautifully. Really fun to build.
The body was the only diecast part and had a few blemishes but not much, however I wanted to practice DeeCee's preparation techniques for painting so I sanded it down some and re-primed it with self etching primer, which does wonders on this soft metal, and repainted it with 3 coats of Plasti-Cote Auto Acrylic Pearl White. I sanded each coat with 2500 grit except the last one which I sanded with 12000 grit and rubbed it out with rubbing compound then put future over it. I doubt I'll ever paint as good as Dale does but I thought his techniques might help with what I do now and they did.
I drilled out the holes in the wheel flange and detailed and inserted these scale bolts so the wheels would have real lug bolts. I like the way they came out. I also detailed the seat and belts and buckles. It has brake lines on the wheels and axles.
Lot of engine details including spark plugs. This model has two complete engines, the Offenhauser that is in it and a V8-60 Ford that I will build to display with it. I hope you like it and thanks for looking.
