Hi all just got back from taking my boss to Harrods to have her hair done. I was parked at the side of the road in my usual parking place when a woman opposite opened her car door as a motorcyclist was riding past, nearly cut his leg off so (don't know much but I am a trained first aider or was 3 years ago) I spent ten mins with my fist in his groin to stop the bleeding till the ambulance arrived. It was gory but the worst thing was the female car driver was in hysterics the whole time, it may seem callous but I did my best to ingore her and reassure pete he was more concerned about her, I could quite happily gagged her if my hands wernt busy doing other things, I actually feel quite sick now I'm home. This all happened about 1:30 this afternoon.

Holy crap KP - what a day indeed!!! Hang in there, I am sure the shock and awe will wear off shortly bud.
But thank you for stepping up and acting fast, and for simply being at the right place, and right time for that motorcyclist!!
Will you be able to check on him to see if he will be ok?

I only know his name was pete, don't even know where they took him (stupidly didn't think to ask) but the paramedic said I probably stopped him bleeding to death. And he was talking and lucid when he went in the ambulance.

I know that must have been extremely nerve shattering and horrible - BUT, I for one am glad you were there for that motorcyclist.
You most likely saved that mans life - angels had you placed there just for him!

Well done KP, a truly human thing to do and just goes to show knowing first aid is something we should all learn. Hope it doesn't affect you too much. You might be able to find out about the guy from the police though. I assume they took a statement so they will do their best to find out for you

Way to go KP! Not just anyone is willing to grab a mans groin to stop bleeding. Kudos for helping out a stranger. I'm sure he'll look for you when he's better to show gratitude.

Hi all just a quick update I phoned the police this morning a got a very helpful woman, I explained what happened and where yesterday and asked how he was she said she would find out and get back to me, well ten mins ago she did he had surgery and is recovering his wife wants my address so she and her daughter can thank me in person, as the doctors assured her I certainly saved his life(I hadn't even thought of the bigger picture of course he's got a mum and dad, probably grandparents, maybe brothers and sisters) the thought of all those people all wanting to thank me for doing such a little thing, makes me want to cry and embarrasses the he'll out of me I said tell her that I am just glad he's ok and appreciate the thanks but that's all I need.

Well done KP, a very admirable and instinctive to do on the spur of the moment, so many people would have stood there or just walked away, i don't know you, but i am proud of you as a human being mate.

Hi all a small update on this. Due to the advice on here and other places ( and my missus put up a good argument ( what if someone did something like this for Mike or Tanya) I have spoken to Pete's wife and daughter. They said them and all of their family think of me as part of them and if ever I need anything or any kind of help they will always be there. Pete is due out of hospital next week, he had some nerve damage but hopefully all he will have is a slight limp. Just thought I would let you know how it ended, just incase anyone was interested.

That is terrific news KP. Such an awesome thing you were able to do. I am sure he and his family are grateful, and you should feel proud. Because of your quick thinking, and actions, another will be able to continue enjoying life, even if he does has a slight limp. You are a HERO in my eyes!!! Now go grab some beers this weekend and relax in the sun - you deserve it!!!
