Started this one a couple of days ago. Here's the kit... The box shows the custom version, which I don't care for. I'll be doing a two tone stock version... Main body color will be metallic silver, roof and interior amethyst. Got all the parts washed and primed some of them. The detail is very nice and the parts seem to fit well. Panel lines show nicely, too. Yeah! The farm. We grow our model parts using only the finest organic fertilizers. The engine color scheme. The name of the color they used was Bell Green because it was the same color as the Bell Telephone logo (I love the internet). I think I managed to match it pretty well. Good engine detail. The piece of rod sticking out will be the fuel line. I'll probably start spraying the body tomorrow.

OOOOOOHHHHH YEAH, i love the shape of this Studey, i scored one at a garage sale a couple of years ago. Does your's have the twin blown option in it?? I like your reference pic, the colors look great on that one, and after seeing your Vette done, i think you can do a real number on this one for sure.

Thanks. I figure I have a better chance of ending up with a good looking model if I start with a good looking car. I'm not as dumb as I look. Usually. smileyCACETROO_zps365bb43e
Yes, it has the twin blower option, it's a 3-in-1 kit.

Great looking body, Sid. I'm sure it'll end up looking great. Those panel lines do look deep and nice.
If you're going with a stock build, I have factory colors for this year studebaker in my ebay store. Let me know if you want to take a look.

Thanks, Iceman. I have my heart set on those metallics, but I have also have an Avanti on the shelf and will keep you in mind for that.
The panel lines are interesting in that they are not very deep. But the edges are very clean and sharp and that's what makes them pop.

An all-time great kit. On the engine I'd do a few bolt heads in a metal color, but the rest of the engine looks tops! Stock is fine with me. Hope the interior colors are authentic too. With a good kit and good paint and detailing it can be a star.

Thanks, all. I may still do some of the bolt heads on the engine. I should have done that before adding all the detailing. Chassis parts are painted and ready to be assembled. I did some test spraying of the body color, but it looks like my Master airbrush just won't handle metallics well enough to be useful. I just bought a Paashe F model that I saw used and recommended by some very knowledgeable painters in Youtube videos. I'm still waiting on the adapter that will let me connect it to my compressor...then we'll see. The amethyst color I'm using for the interior is not authentic, unless by sheer coincidence. I'm sure my low concern for authenticity will be considered scandalous by some. I'm surprised no one has yet pointed out that the firing order of the spark plugs is not correct.

Great work on this car Sidney. I remember seeing these cars when I was just a pup. They were good cars. {showing my age here.}

The first car I remember fairly well was the 1959 VW Beetle my folks bought. That must have been a late oval window or very early square window was it? Cant remember the US start for imports too well but was it one of the ones imported through New York by someone other than VW? I would happily have one of them today.

I finally got my airbrush mojo working again and am making progress. The body is not done yet, but I wanted to post a couple of pics to show the color scheme. It was hard to get my camera to pick up the colors. The body silver shows more accurately in this one.... ...and the interior color shows better in this one... The metallic paint is definitely more of a challenge. After increasing frustration with the duel action Master I've been using, I gave up on it and bought a Paasche H series "external mix" airbrush. I'd seen it being used by some very skilled painters in Youtube videos. Man, what a difference. I'm still getting used to it, but it's so much simpler to use, and it handles any paint I use with ease. Clean up is much quicker too. It's great not having to feel like I'm always fighting with the thing to get it to work. If anyone wants more info on the Paasche, just ask. I'm probably going to sand the minor imperfactions in the body paint and give it one more coat, then reverse the masking and do the roof in the amethyst. Clear coat over all, and all window frame chrome will be BMF. So far, not bad. egyptian

Thanks. I still have to detail the door handles and window cranks, and I'm going to cut some pebble grained black vinyl for the floor mat and pedals. The dash has great detail...I hope I don't muck it up.

LOVE those colors mate, and the body will look great with the purple roof i think. I have has the same Paasche for about 25 years, they are a great air brush to use.

Holy crap - this looks awesome - small details are amazing, dash is beautiful, did you paint them white and use clear gauge decals?

Thanks, Crunchy. I downloaded pics of gauges from the web and printed them on my new Canon Pixma MG6620, highest resolution on glossy photo paper. Punched the printed gauges out of the paper with a leather hole punch. The results are just killer. The printer cost me all of $60 from Amazon. Can't beat it with a stick, my friend. road-rage-smiley-emoticon I plan on buying some decal printer sheets so I can also print my own decals.
