That's an impressive swap over mate, i can't comment too much on what you are striving for, as down this way, i have never seen either of them, so i just wait with baited breath, and hope it looks great.

Tubbs, no progress other than soaking the body in stripper and finishing the tail light openings. Next is to cut small pieces of plastic and glue them in one by one to create the tail lights. I will be posting this task soon. Going I think in a different direction on the chassis. Going to use a different back half that has the car sitting a bit higher than the Duster. The weekend is closing in fast and I should have time to get some work in on this body.

Doing some mods to the stock chassis. Cut off the back half, reshaped the backs of the interior sides for the larger tubs, added small tabs for better mounting and cobbled it together. The body is now stripped of the blue paint so its bodywork time. I will also be setting up the chassis with the front stub, suspension and tires.

keep going. looking real nice. that conversion is coming along great. like the stance of the duster better, that's not saying I DON'T like the demon's. it kind of an 80's-ish stance.

Thanks Stitch and Deecee, its coming along. I am still tweaking it here and there so this will be a work in progress for awhile but it wont just sit. I have little odds and ends to do that will keep it on the cooker so to speak. I have a few trucks that are just about done and im going to get them completed. In between parts drying etc I will be on this Demon and the Mustang.Tubbs, I wanted a higher rake on this one, thats why I chose a different back half. Its a job getting this one just cobbled together. A bit harder than I thought matching up the AMT and MPC body parts. This one is a mutt but its going to be a cool mutt!

I tried on a few cars to get a higher stance, just don't work for me, I start fiddling around and the next thing you know, it's in the weeds. your doing a great job putting that thing together. I may try it myself. no, no I won't, i'll just have to be content and watch yours come together.

I am for sure going to build another one but close to stock with a 340 six pack. I have a Duster kit with a untouched body. I cant see spending a bunch of money on a wheelstander Dart. I have been looking and may just buy the body at some point of Ebay? I am thinking the Shrewsbury Dart might be molded in white which I would rather have so that may be the one I gotta find! This car is just going to be a street machine with a bit of Pro Stock flair. The body is far from perfect so its not going to be an all out show car, rather a 50 footer. It is cool though and I wanted a Demon. I hate Resin so I just made my own plastic bomb!!

Had to revisit this build. Made some errors with the AMT Duster/MPC Wheelstanding Dart body. Making the front wider for the AMT rear body made the bumper/grille and valance WAY too small. Im going to shelve this body for later when I have some time to experiment with some resin. Thinking I could make some nice fitting parts for this body as it makes a cool race car. Moving Forward.......I made a discovery how to create a all plastic Demon with very little conversion work. I experimented with an old Convoy Chaser 75 Dart Sport. I did not take pictures of the altering of this body, I only have the first fit test results. I do not have any grille, bumper, or valance from a Dart kit so I had to use the parts from a Petty stock car until I locate the parts I need for this build. Take a look! All this required was to cut the header panel and filler panel off the body, file down the area behind each headlight for mounting the 75 Dart grille, and shape the fenders copying the contours of the 70 fenders and this is the result. This was the first test on a bad body. I have a brand new 75 Dart Sport body and I am going to convert it to a 71 demon and I will take pictures and post the step by step. I even have an idea for the right tail lights without having to cut up the body. Enjoy!!

Looks like a nice tidy job mate, can't comment on the accuracy, as i have never seen a real on down this end of the world.

Thanks Dale. Its about as good as it gets. There is a resin body out there and round 2 models was going to make one. Problem is and this is where my OCD or ADD comes in. Neither were correct. They had the wrong wheel openings on them. The first one was a try to create a more correct version, (at least for me!!) but it was a bit difficult and errors had stock parts not fitting. This second attempt to me is spot on. I have the other 75 Dart Sport body and will be trimming and shaping to make the grille bumper and valance to fit. This car will be done pretty close to stock, stripes, small block, small wheels and all. As soon as time permits im going to start the music on this build. I have several more entries in the Bracket Racing Themes I want to get my builds into. My truck didnt do as bad as I thought in the race so next month something else will be entered and I will see how far that build goes. Anyhow, back to work for now. Catch you later bud!! Chas.
