I am trying to get things geared up for next year and some of my ideas need to get started soon, so I thought I would run this by you and see what kind of feed back I get.
First I want to have a Christmas gift swap, details will follow if there is enough interest and you will see the themes for 2014 MOTM February would be limited to those who participate in the gift swap.
Second I want to have a special "Build A Custom" Contest to celebrate our one year anniversary ( June 1 2014 )I will be asking for prize donations as I want first place to be epic ( I will be donating a brand new electric Rotary Tool w/ 500 piece accessory kit and it comes in a nice wooden case with metal hinges and latches) and also have a second and third prize. I would like there to be judges and they will offer pro and con write ups of all entry's.
Themes for 2014 MOTM Jan. 1st Annual American Graffiti MOTM - when posting your car you will need to point out the location and story behind the car in the movie. Feb. 1st Annual "Look What I Got For Christmas" MOTM - limited to those who took part in the gift exchange. Mar. Corvettes - any year, built any way Apr. Monster Trucks - build a clone of a real truck or create your own May T.V. and Movie - just tell us where the car can be seen and build it as close as you can Jun. Low & Slow - any car or truck that is lowered and slammed, scraping the ground Jul. Patriotic - any car or truck, must be red, white and blue Aug. Ford - any Ford , built any way Sep. GM - any GM, built any way Oct. Something Ghostly - spooky, scary Nov. Mopar & Other makes - built any way Dec. Santas Ride w extra points for having the fat man in the drivers seat
Themes for 2014 Bracket Racing Jan. Family Cars - 4 doors, wagons, ect Feb. Rice Burners Mar. Ford vs Chevy vs Mopar vs Other - built factory stock Apr. Funny cars - anything from the flip body flopper era May Turbo Cars - must have at least one turbo Jun. Motor Cycles - any bike, built any way Jul. Ford vs Chevy vs Mopar vs Other - built any way you want Aug. Corvettes - any year , built any way Sep. 2wd Trucks - any truck, any way to include ElCaminos, and Rancheros Oct. Show Cars - Cars that have long been at car shows that really were never meant to be driven- Raiders Coach, Boothill Express, Pinball Wizard find it on the web and post a picture with your entry. Like it. I'd like to see march MOTM be any pickup/truck theme. Love the rice burner idea.
I'm thinking the one year anniversary build should start January 1st. That five months to get the builds in. But I do like it being an epic build with awesome prizes. You'll need to set some good rules for that one.
Also thinking too far ahead no?

Hey, Ice do you want me to swap March with April? or just do away with the corvettes altogether and add pickups?
Paperback, thats a great idea I am already looking into that!
Cowboy, thanks for the input, do as many as you can. We love the participation !

I personally dont build corvettes but I dont have a problem skipping a month. I'm sure there are people here that would love to build one for MOTM. Maybe swap March with April and instead of monster truck MOTM just a plain pickup MOTM. Keep Monster truck in the bracket racing though. I dont know. What do you all think?

IT all sounds great and you are doing your gift swap like I do at MCJSD, get the idea from mine when you were there? It's ok, I think I told several others about the idea and it is being incorporated in other forums who do the gift swap.
I am like spacecowboy, I may not be able to do all the motms, but I will do as many as I can.
How about putting Mustang in there somewhere?

It all sounds good to me. I really like Corvettes so I won't give my biased opinion on that issue...err, I guess I just may have. I would love to participate in all, but know I won't be able to. I will do what I can. It is killing me I am not able to get to the current MOTM. I am trying to get where I can maybe do October though, maybe September if things roll along fast enough. Just got my old home office and build area reclaimed and got my work counter back in business, just have to start replacing old paints and stuff that have gone bad. Have you thought about a "apocalypse, prepper, road warrior" build? That could encourage some heavier scratch building Or, "if you were a super hero what would your super car/truck be like" build. Just thinking out loud, throwing things out to see what sticks.

I love that idea Skip. Scratch building take time so I'm not sure we could get it to a MOTM. I will definitely add it to the upcoming challenges list though.

Yeh Ice, your right, MOTM is probably too short of time, but maybe a 3 month build might work?

Right, we just need to remember there are only 12 months in a year and if we flood the site with a million builds we will never be able to do all of them or even keep track. I like alot of the ideas I have heard and will try and reshuffle the themes, but I can only do 12 a year and the rest will have to wait till next year.
Also, just so you know, you dont have to wait till the start of the month for which you want to compete. You can start building now for december if you want. You just need to take pictures and when december gets here post them as per the rules. I would never get a kit done if I didnt atleast start them and get some of the details done before hand.

A 1/16 scale build would be fun. I know there's several sweet 1/16 kits out there to do.

I like that 1/16 build, but I think it would be to much for MOTM. I could see it being a 3 or 6 month build. I have some stuff and would like to get into that one. Iceman what do you think?

Yeah I agree. It's a bigger canvas so it would take a little more time. I will add it to the upcoming contests lost. Do we want to stick to 1/16 or can we go with 1/20 and 1/18 as well?
It could also be any scale except 1/25-25. I don't know just brainstorming here. What do the rest of you think?

I was in a contest .....long time ago that was "Big Scale Contest" it included 1/20,1/16,1/12 and 1/8 that might be the best way to go, just open it to any large scale ( that being bigger then 1/24, 1/25 )

Sounds all good to me so far. I'm a slow thinker sometimes though, I may have some ideas or opinions after I think about a bit. If I do get think of something I'll throw it out here.
