That's looking good. What are you going to put behind those openings?

That's looking good. What are you going to put behind those openings? Grille will get honeycomb cloth, like the grille I did on the other VTS. The scoop,....... don't know yet if I want to open it all the way up, or make it a "faux" intake. depends on the powerplant, which is still up in the air. I'm building both the V10 and a Hemi, so we'll see.

Thanks guys !
Once I get the scoop to sit down right and fab the rear chassis, should be smooth sailing.
Should be....... running-around-smiley-emoticon

I whittled the scoop from a slab of styrene, shaped with a Dremel tool. And thats the 2nd scoop, first one is now parts box fodder lol !

1st and 2nd ones, same kinda shape or no?
NICE work no less, I say, make it functional........but that too is just me... the "faux" ones, I'm not sure I get (understand).... they look good, BUT, the whole point in a scoop, is to scoop fresh cool air from outside the engine compartment so...........
Just me and how I think, PLUS, you do good work so I would say the extra bit of detail added in by opening it up, well. just add to the build!
I'm still tooling around with the idea you brought out in your Dodge 330 build with the "lace" type stuff used behind the grill on that car...... that looked really good!

Thanks Hemi !
The 1st try at the scoop wound up looking a lot like a hammerhead shark, head, thingy. Turns out, if the proportions aren't right it changes the whole look. And I had removed too much material to recover, so I figured just start over.
The honeycomb for the grille was actually lace doily (sp?) I got at Michaels. But that was way back in the 90's, no telling if they still have it. PM me your address and I'll send ya a patch. Lord knows I've got three or four 10" circles of it lol !

Mike, Yeah, that makes a bit of sense now on the 1st and 2nd scoop "shape"...... I myself, had to ask to see if you just made one, and didn't like the shape, and went and started over or if you just weren't happy with the first one and thats what it sounded like ya did......

I see, I see! I tell ya tho, if you go the "faux" scoop route, the one on the far right would have been the better choice! To have one "opened-up" the left one was/is the better choice, I think...... Not bad in either case tho, all depends on what "look" your trying to achieve!
NICE work tho!

Looks good, when I built the back for my Prostreet truck the whole back chassis was hand built. Not as good looking as yours but it worked. I have a motor/trans to do and some detail but mine should be done soon. Are you going Rumble Bee Yellow on this one?

By the way, I have plans to build a FM3 Pink Duster 340 along with a scale version of my 70 Swinger. I have a whole stable of Mopars to build!

I have a Boyds Aluma Yellow Pearl that needs to get used, so it will be more lemony than buttery yellow I suppose.

I've got a couple bottles of Panther Pink too, but there are only a few bodies that look good in that flavor. The Duster / Dart bodies (Swinger) being one, the 70' Cuda / Challengers being the other two IMO. I've got some old Mopar Muscle Mags that even show Chargers in Panther Pink, but they just look weird to me. I dunno ... smiley-confused005

Yes it still lives, just got carried away with other builds and forgot about this. Still throwing around the wing idea, but If I do use them, I might lower them to match the roofline. But at the same time, they will throw off the stripes for the rear end, so I dunno. Since my custom scoop went on the GTX I figured I'd dive in the parts box and find the most obnoxious thing I could ! Considering the intake that might wind up under it, the hole may very well need to be this big. The engine has gone from V-10 to Hemi and back a few times, but now I'm sticking with the Hemi. Parts box drive pulleys and supercharger and a Lenco tranny I snagged off a parts box glue bomb. Going to need to make my own shift levers though, and shorten the driveshaft, but i won't have to dimple the firewall! Now to figure out an intake solution. Of all the things I don't have, I don't have a top fuel injector hat, but I think I can snatch one off the bay.
