Gonna start a thread an old build. This is the Revell Street Charger kit - comes in plain white. I built this quite awhile back, but never decaled it. It has a pretty cool metallic fawn orange paint job, but after this was built, I have gotten into die cast collecting along with models. When one day, I happened upon a 1/64 Johnny Lightning - Willie Borsch funny car, and it was orange! So, even though this is a different color orange, I went ahead acquired the Slixx decals, and will make a version of Willie Borsch's "Wild Man" funny car. I plan to also wire the motor, and some custom plumbing and other details.

Nice. Let me know how those Slixx decals work out. I have a Sox & Martin 70-71 Cuda, I'm dying to try them on.

Finally got after this side project again. Took apart the car, at least what came apart easy....  Taped off and painted the front and rear bumpers last night. Definitely a good time to get this one wrapped up, as it is basically the same car as the big 1/16 scale funny car I just did. Everything is still fresh from that build that I can apply here   Decals applied and clear coated. I printed out several "actual" pictures of the car for reference. The Slixx decals I have are awesome! Also included are decals for the Winged Express Altered Rod - so now, I am on the hunt for that kit, (Like I am never on a hunt for a kit! LOL) After she dries a few days - time to begin the polishing...      Next up, time to wire and plumb what I can. I may also tear down the rims and tires, take away the lettering, and flat clear the rims to get them more aluminum looking, as they were on the real car. Also, from the research, I will be making some side body panels where the headers come out, AND, I may try to the DeeCee method and fabricate the rear spoiler that really needs to be put on to represent the actual car.  |

Good read for those that did not know. I myself, Like you Al, was always a fan of Borsch. BUT, I never knew the arm went across eBay!! I would have been ALL OVER THAT AUCTION!!
You know what is weird, I have been searching for an arm, any arm, I could find that I could put on this build to represent Wild Willie, and do you think I could find one? Nope! But I will keep searching, sooner or later, I will run across a sprint car parts auction or something that will have an arm I could try and make look like the one he had on his car... |

A few final updates, before I start a new finished section thread with nicer pictures, (yep - most likely some burn out w/smoke pictures as well ): Windows done and installed. Also Installed all the under -body parts, re-attached the steering column, (it came off from fumbling with it) Installed the rims and tires, also repaired bits of the front steering, (again, fumbling around with it things came loose) I took apart the tires and rims, cleand off the yellow lettering from the tires, and sprayed the chrome rims to look more like aluminum. I also, "dirtied" up the rear rims, as if he is in the semi finals, having smoked a few burn outs. So here she looks now, thinking I will NOT do any wiring or plumbing. With the little fumbling around, and things giving way, breaking, etc. I think I will opt to leave the engine as is, it is after all the way it was built many years ago. What I was really after was sprucing it up here and there and the body decals. I will still be making heat guards for the body, just above the headers, and also am going to fabricate a rear spoiler to represent the real car spoiler. Plus, I gots to get the arm on the door as well yet - my tribute to Wild Willie - one of the BEST ever!!    In the background, is the inspiration for changing this build - the Johnny Lightnng, 1/64 diecast car  |

Another quick update - (amazing what one can do with electricity - I CAN SEE!!). But for sure, it must have sparked something in me, appreciating the warmth from the furnace, being able to flip a switch, great stuff!! I went ahead and grabbed the .015 clear plastic I have used once for windows, measured twice, and cut once. Ha! No, not really, several drags of the blade really. Sanded some round edges to the top of the spoiler, then sprayed them with some Tamiya light gun metal, and while that was wet, sprayed them with some dupli-color universal chrome. I think they look pretty good, nice and dirty. These will also get a coat of dull coat, to tone down the chrome effect. The small rectangular pieces are for the bottom of the body, right above the headers. The spoiler, I know I will have some shaving and sanding to get it just right, but when I am done, I do believe I will save this as a template for others in the future!     |
