My entry this month for my next possible missed deadline. smiley-confused005 This build is sort of for my youngest son who builds pole barns and also hauls stuff and moves trailers/RV trailers for people. We were talking one evening in my model cave and decided this would be a cool real tow rig for his hauling business, so now I'm going to build one as a model. A pic of the kit I'm mutilating for this build and a simple mock up with the little bit of work I started. I'm working on the axles right now.

Thank you kind folks. On my way out to the shop to do a timing belt on a friends car, then the plan is back into the model cave and get some work done on this later.

I guess it's time for an update. It has been quite a few days since I showed any progress on this, so here we go. Looks like I may start getting paint on some stuff after tonight. Using the dually axle from a Revell '77 GMC wrecker, I needed to narrow the frame and rear inner fenders or widen the rear axle. I took the easy way out and widened the axle. Cut each axle tube and sleeved them. Here I already have one side done and pics show doing the other side. Drilled out some 5/32' styrene tubing for sleeves. Finished to the correct fit for what I'm doing. Not shown here ,but I also cut the springs off that were molded with the axle so I can use the springs of the A100 kit. Also using the front axle from a Revell '77 GMC wrecker and converting it to a front drive axle for the 4x4 conversion. Removed the molded springs. Using the front axle housing from an AMT '78 Ford 4x4 pickup to convert the '77 GMC axle. Seeing a possible need for more of the Ford axle I made a mold of it and cast one to modify. This way I also still have the original to build the Ford kit later. The cast axle from my mold cut down for the GMC axle. I made a mold for the transfer case too. The transfer case is from an AMT '84 GMC 4x4 pickup. DOH! DOH! DOH! I screwed that mold up getting in a hurry and forgot to use mold release when casting the second half. I did catch it in time though to save the one case I needed for this build. There was supposed to be three transfer cases in the mold. I'll retry making that mold again later. Transfer case mounted to engine/transmission and everything mock fit to the frame. Drive shafts made and fit. The rear shaft I got lucky and a left over one from an AMT USA-1 monster truck kit was perfect as is. The front shaft was made with a shaft from the junk box, the front of the shaft I cut from the dually axle that was molded together, and a piece of aluminum tubing. Now I'm working on getting the rear fenders mounted and fit to the body. Got to knuckle down and keep working on this or NO COOKIES !!! Also I'll miss another deadline. Still need to decide on a body color too. I have a few days before I need to know that.

NICE work Skippy! That fab work on the axles looks GREAT!
Question, do you still have the front axle "pivot" to the stock A100 kit that came with it? I need 2 of them for another build, that I'm working on, PM me what ya might want for them!

Thanks guys. I'll get this one finished, just don't know if it will be by the deadline. If I miss on this one I'm going to hold off on any more contests and go back and finish the 4 or 5 incomplete builds I have shelved before doing any more.

I have a plan for my recent A100, but NOTHING like this one, but semi-sort-of, close..... The rear fenders are from a Revell '50 Ford pickup. Oh, I have the complete front axle with spindles and drag link that I won't be using. That would give you a complete steerable axle. I've been a little busy this week, I'll PM you in a while. We'll work something out.
