Viper won it's class after starting last in class at the 2015 Daytona 24 Hours. A Riely-Ford EcoBoost won overall beating the Corvette Prototype by 1.33 seconds. Corvette did win the GTLM class.

Go the mighty Mopar!! Was watching a live feed for most of it, as our adopted AUSSIE, Shane Van Gisbergen was close in second to the Viper in a Porsche for most of the race, (7 seconds behind in the end). he runs in our V8 Supercar championship here in Aus. ( adopted....he is really from New Zealand)..

I second that Dale ----^ GO MIGHTTY MOPAR! Question, the Viper being in its own class, what was the class is that? And could have had the new Dodge Challenger, raced too? The "Hellcat"

It was a Viper GT3-R and races in the GTD (GT Daytona) class. Not sure what class they would put any of the Hellcats in, but I doubt that it would be competitive. They are always adjusting the "coefficient of performance" to equalize the cars, but I wouldn't have confidence in them.
They wouldn't have 700hp. The Corvettes in GTLM race with less hp than a stock street Z06 has.

So, its VERY equaled performance then.......Makes sense I had to ask! Be nice tho to see how well a good ole Hellcat Chally would do in a circle track race! LOL be hell tho getting something to go against it wit hthe HP rating..... what they rate the Viper GT3-R at? 650 HP? Sorry I'm unfamiliar with the race here....

Riley says a base SRT Viper GT3-R costs $460,000 and produces 680hp while weighing 2855lbs. I'm sure neither of these numbers represent the race version.
A 2013 spec Dodge Sprint Cup engine had more hp than a Hellcat and was normally aspirated. Representative specs are 357 CID and 11.5:1 compression ratio and makes 825 horsepower & 544ft-lb torque.

I'm sure NONE of these numbers are "correct". As that 357 CID engine Sprint Cup engine isn't "STOCK" either! The "Hellcat 6.2 Hemi" IS!, you and I can buy the Hellcat EVERYDAY of the week this year! Drive off with a 707 HP street legal car! The Viper GT-3R? 680 HP is no slouch, and is a fast.....Its advantage, (I think) is the fact that its streamlined.....Aerodynamic, made for racing, The Challenger, I'm not so sure about with the body lines but it looks good doing whatever it may be doing!
