Have been sitting here all day trying to work out what to build next, while i wait for the street machine MOTM build comes around. Well, about an hour ago i decided on the 41 Willy's, after all the Willy's that were posted up for the Gasser bracket race, i am ready to do another one. First job, open the trunk. What else i will do,.....i have no clue yet.

Good start. Will this be a gasser? NO mate, Gasser's are way too high for me, Its going to be one tough street rod, with a few changes along the way, not many though, as it is hard to improve on these kits. John, any inspiration to get you building mate, is a good thing. Modified an old fuel tank to fit in between the tubs, Next job was to modify the front stub axles. the one on the left is stock, the one on the right has been flipped, and in doing so, i had to remove the tie-rod? and put it on the other side, this will lower the front end a little, with out having to cut/shut too much. Then comes the BEAUTY!! THE HEMI. Have plumbed up the A/C compressor, and the alternator, made a dizzy and and assembled the rear end. The paint , i have no clue what color it is called, but i'm calling it " Sun burnt Bronze"

Good GAWD Dale (DDD) LOL LOVE the colors!
This that mysterious Hemi you noticed the distributor on was in the back? YES that makes it a 392......OR a 354, (slight detail change in the valve covers) OR the Chrysler FIRST "FirePower" 331. NONE of these were known as "Hemi's" back in the day, even tho, they are Hemispherical combustion chambered headed engines.....
GAWD that looks good that color! NICE work!

Yes John, this is the Hemi i was inquiring about mate, with the dizzy at the back, a sweet looking engine too it is. And thanks too guys, i am very impressed with the color, because over undercoat, it was very red, yet over silver, we get more of the gold/bronze look, but in the jar..... YUK!!! Looks like cough medicine.... Knocked a bit more out today, ran the lines to the remote oil filters, fitted the fuel tank and made a fuel pump as well. Fitted a battery in the boot too, will now need to run a battery lead along the chassis rail. A wheel change was also needed, as all the willy's kits have a great set of wheels, but ALL the same, also wanted to find some street rubber in a lower profile, to help get its bum a bit closer to earth. And decided on an interior color too. Basic but clean.

Looking really good here buddy, fine looking engine. What wheels are these or where did they come from. I likee. Thanks guys, i see the wheel / tyre combo has a bit of interest. The wheels are, i think, from a revell 55 chevy pro sportsman kit, and the tyres are from ............. buggered if i know They came out on a few different pick-ups way back when, and will almost fit on a pro street rim, just had to narrow the back of the rim a little. I have these tyres on another willy's and they look great, just have not got around to taking pics of it yet, Here is a little trick i do with the dash, the decal goes behind the dash on this kit, so after i do that, i put white canopy glue "Formula 560" which dries perfectly clear, over the decal. i also use it for window installation, by doing this, when it dries, it looks like it has glass over the gauge. And yes John, thanks, i love that bronze paint too, and i have heaps of it left, so might get a run on bronzed builds maybe. smileyCACETROO_zps365bb43e and after it dries. In real life, you can see a lens a lot clearer.

Looking really good. I do the gauge thing with 5-min. epoxy and it works real well also. The silver sure came out nice. I see a bad ass engine off to the side there. Gonna' stick thru that hole in the hood I'll bet.

Thanks Dennis and John, the engine will pop its head through a little, but being a street rod build, it wont be too much mate. John, the plan it to do it the bronzey orange, maybe with a little help with some shading in a few spots, not too sure on that yet mate. And here it is, fresh off the airbrush.

S-O-B!!!!!!! GAWD, how'd I guess it turn out Copper "Orange", (I LOVE that color!) I favor the Orange colors a bunch!!! NOW you tossed a monkey wrench in my plans for the Willys I was-am plannin'...... HMMMMM thinking-hard-smiley-emoticon Got to come up with another color for that one! Man right off the air brush, not a spec of dirt, NOTHING, HELL, you don't even have to wet sand that to add the clear to it! Gonna be a nice one when its done!

Thanks Mate, she has got clear coat in that pic, as it was all painted the same time, can't wet sand this color as it is like a candy, which is transparent, so if you sand the color, it will change color in that spot, which makes it a bit hard to spray, but you right, i don't need to wet sand it, just a little bit of mild cut / polish, she'll be right i reckon.

Sure does look good tho! (I have a Orange Pearl from Boyd) I plan to use on something BUT......I have to be right on with that color as I don't think I have but one bottle of it, AND I don't think I can get any more of that exact color. Boyd was bought out by Testors.....I'll have to look and see if there is any "Testors" colors the same as or close to the Boyd Orange Pearl.....Old? Yes, but still good paint!
BUT this is about the color of it here just a shade or so darker (the orange pearl I have is) then what you painting this Willy's....BUT that could be due to the silver undercoat you sprayed for the orange you got here....
I didn't realize it was so much like a candy color.. so you'd be right with not wet sanding it. (It sure would make re-coating it difficult wouldn't it?
What will you polish it with?
