I don't get a whole lot of time to work with my models, something that has been bothering me for some time now, so when I do get the chance to sit for an hour I jump on it! Just had a quick question that I would like some opinions on. When building a kit molded in a color and you have to paint parts the same color, do you paint them or just leave as is? I have always painted but started working with an old Tommy Ivo Showboat and I know it will not be a 10/10 when done so I am debating whether or not to paint the red parts red or leave them.

For me I think paint brings a little more out of a kit. If its left in the plastic I find myself looking at it and thinking I could have done that better. If you take photo's especially you can tell its not painted as a lot of the colour looks faded in the pics. If you don't get to build often maybe paint at the end of your buildiing time, before you know your not getting back to it. You'll like the build more then.

Sometimes if the molding and the color is good on small parts you can leave them, although I agree with Stitch, painting is better. Once in a while, not often, I find a body with no scratches and really good color and I wax it with automotive wax and it works very well but that happens far and few between. Good rule of them, painting is better. But I have to say in the end, it is your model, build it to suit you the way you want it, like you want to build it and it doesn't matter what anybody else thinks about it. If YOU like it the way it is, use it and forget about it.

I have to 2nd Big D's reply.... Painting is best. makes for a GREAT finish. BUT if its something YOU can live with and you like how it looks UNPAINTED, remember, its YOURS to finish however you see fit!
Its a hobby, if your doing it for fun, thats what its all about, if your doing it as its said to be right but you feel otherwise, then is it fun anymore really?
See? HAVE FUN.. thats what its all about!
