Since I'm on here getting caught up on what everyone has been doing, I'll go ahead and get this build thread started. Secret Santa sent me a '36 Ford coupe and challenged me to build it as a gasser, so here is my starter pic with everything laid out. Using some bits from the tires and parts box, as well as a Monogram '55 Chevy Street Machine kit with some missing pieces for some donor parts, so now that kit is missing quite a few more pieces. Haven't decided on an engine yet. The '36 kit comes with a flat head V8, not a very good gasser engine. The '55 has a blown Chevy small block, which would work with very little hassle, as it will actually fit right on the '36 engine mounts. I'm really leaning towards putting a 427 Ford in it. I have a Revell Parts Pack Ford 427 or I can rob the 427 cammer that is in an AMT '33 Willys kit I have. I would like to use the cammer engine, but I really don't want to pilfer my complete '33 Willys kit. thinking-hard-smiley-emoticon thinking-hard-smiley-emoticon thinking-hard-smiley-emoticon I'll get to work on the body for now and see about getting it painted. I usually do that last and it always seems to be one of my biggest hurdles in a build, so maybe I'll change my routine and get that out of the way first. Think it's going to be cloaked in Testors One Coat Lacquer "Electric Pink". Here's a pic of everything laid out and a mock up stance of the beast to be.

Just with it sitting there like that, it looks cool already mate, so everything you do to it will only improve the image.

Thanks guys. I'm trying to get some real work started on it today or this evening. Have my 1:1 truck project I need to get work done on and get it back on the road too, so I have to try and balance my time with the 1:25 scale ones. Too many projects!!! smiley-scared002

Looking very cool Skip...if your interested I got a extra 427 S O H C ford engine just send me a PM Thanks Paul, but I have decided to use the Revell engine. I have a stash of these engine packs with at least 2 or 3 of each, so I decided I need to start using them. I'll keep that in mind though and check with you if I decide I need one.

And now for an update. De-chromed the engine parts from the Revell engine that I want painted and started removing the insert panel in the roof. Decided to make it a filled and smoothed roof. Here's the roof all smoothed out. Decided to smooth the hood also and remove the ridge from the center. Discarding the running boards also. Wanted to get the body primed and painted first, but it is looking like I may need to modify the front fenders and open the radius of the rear fender openings, so until I can get more of the chassis and engine together to check those relationships with the body I will hold off any more body work. May also have to modify the firewall as well. So it's back to the bench to play with the engine and chassis.

OUCH... did the car model actually "Survive?" ? Sorry to hear that Skippy! That sucks man, sometimes, they can and will get the better of us to the point of the use of a BFH, then there will to survive is VERY limited..... Hope your still building!

Thanks for the encouragement guys. Yeah, every now and then one will beat you up, just have to move on and get back in the saddle. It's only a bunch of plastic parts after all. I boxed it up this afternoon, cleaned my work area, and pulled out the next one. Guess maybe I'll try to do one for March MOTM.
