Hi all, well I'm making a start on the Bentley today, first thin I notice that I'm a bit disappointed with is, when looking at the box art the front mud guard has not got much detail at all   as you can see I have a load of rivets and nuts to scratch. |

Hi all I've had a brilliant idea I have the Airfix 1/12 London icon pack and I'm going to hack the life guard about and have him either getting into or driving the Bentley what better than to have 2 British icons together.

For the rivets if its 1/12 scale version pin heads may work. They should be about the right size

Hi all I am so cross(mostly with myself for not testing it first) I received some humbrol acrylic chrome in a spray can today, and, eager to try it out I did it straight on the bentley engine, it clearly says acrylic on the can, and I primed the engine with humbrol enamel so there should have been no problem, anyway I started spraying and thought this smells very much like celloluse paint.  now that is exactly the effect I would expect spaying cellulose on enamel not when spraying acrylic. so now its getting the oven cleaner treatment, so take this as a warning.smell your paint first. |

I hate it that happened to you. I would dearly love to work with an engine that size. I always smell my paint though. I think that's what's wrong with me.

I think humbrol put the wrong paint in the can there is no way a water based acrylic paint should do this to plastic.   Now I can believe cellulose doing that. |

That is weird. Are any of the paints the same ones you used on your batmobile? Seems like a similar problem. May very well be the paint you're using.

I found this thread which would make me wonder if its an old tin or back stock. uamf.org.uk/viewtopic.php?f=13&t=8588Myself I tend to use the same type of paint rather than mixing types. It may also be the gas used in the cans being different for acrylic and enamel then reacting with each other |

NEVER mix and match acrylics with enamels mate.
What has caused your problem is you have put Acrylic over enamel, this will wrinkle up almost every time, acrylic goes on as a HOT paint, due to the thinners required,
but enamel is usually thinned with turps etc, which is not HOT so to speak.
yet Enamel will go over anything, try to stick with one or the other, that way you should avoid this problem.
Strip it back, and go again, but if you want to use that chrome acrylic, use a good acrylic automotive undercoat, i have never had a problem with it yet. (i only ever use auto acrylics).

I painted it with brown Humbrol enamel paint then whilst still wet I dabbed black randomly then dipped the rush in thinners and blended till I got the effect I wanted.

I have heard and read that if you use Humrol, NEVER use the same brush again in ANYTHING else, but Humbrol........ NOT sure why, BUT I haven't used or bought ANY Humbrol in my life so.....
Myself, I like Testors enamel, and Acrylic enamels... they work well together.
As for the model, WOW That thing is HUGE! NICe details on everything LOVe the leaf spring "wrap".....GAWD, what ya can do to a large scale model!
