Santa brought me this 34 ford pickup. He recommended i build a chopped rat rod out of it.

Nice! The great thing about rat rods is that the chop doesn't have to look smooth. Looking forward to it.

This would make a great rat rod. I like what Iceman said "the chop doesn't have to look that smooth" I haven't had the nuts to try to chop anything and others in here are so good at it.

This is my first time chopping a top. Thinking about making welds where i chopped...an unfinished chop

The place where Iceman got his louvers also has beaded welds that look good.

If you're looking to make a rough welded look, you can just lay a bit of super glue along the seams after you join them together. Then sprinkle baking soda. Sand down so it's slight thicker than the body. When you paint it just shade it in some sort of dark silver.

That's a good idea. I never thought of that. I just read where some modelers are using baby powder with the glue with great results also.

This will look great chopped, and if you get it wrong, "it's only plastic", so it can be fixed, besides , there is no right or wrong way to chop a ratter.

Thanks guys! Did a lot of research on making welds, and most people use body filler.

I had this kit once, and had a few assembled from ones before way back when, This kit IF I remember correctly, is a GREAT kit for some such project to chop the top, or any ratting of the model as its a good model for such things!
jm, can't wait to see where ya go with it!

Great kit for your first chop! This is gravy to chop, probably the easiest one out there. Look forward to seeing it!

Way cool! I have looked at picking up this kit a few times but never have yet. I always thought it might make a great candidate to build a sweet rat rod from. Looking forward to your build.
