Does anybody know of a kit with the buick/olds/pontiac 215 v8. It was used in a lot of brit cars under the rover v8 name but none of the brit car kits that used it have the engine in and I'm planning ahead for a future build. Ideally I'm looking for it in 1/25

There are '62 F-85 Oldsmobile kits that have V8s. I believe the only V8 these came with is the 215. linkSouth Eastern Fine Cast in England made a 1/24 Rover V8 as part # A231. Don't know if they are still available.

The Pontiac version is different than the Buick, the Buick version was offered in Oldsmobiles as an option. The Buick 215 was used in Rovers up until 2006 or so.

The '62 Pontiac Tempest kits are rare and pricy. The '61-'62 Tempest offered a slant 4, 1/2 of a Pontiac 389, however, it did have a 215 option. The '63 had a Pontiac 326. All '61-'63 Tempests had Corvair trans axles. The Buick and Olds versions had traditional power trains.

Ahhh Haaa..
I found a 62 Cutlass on Evil Bay. Only thing is it needs a HOOD ! Any of you large parts stash
people have a Hood for a 61 - 62 Olds Cutlass ?? ( I believe they are the same ) I have seen a wagon kit which I believe would have the same hood...I would Trade or Purchase or even possibly have one cast by some one, just need a loaner for that...Any Help in finding one would be appreciated, as this is the 1:1 car I had when I got Married and would like to do a Model of it...
Thanks Tom smiley-greet016

I don't have a hood but I would be interested in the engine if you decide to mould it.

I don't have the kit yet..Probably be after Xmas. If you have any ideas on a finding a Hood I would appreciate it. We could probably work out something on the Engine though. Hemi or someone on here could probably cast it for us.. From the pics on evil bay the engine has the bottom of it opened up for the axle to go through , but I'm sure that could be filled in a casting..I will fill you in more when I have the kit. Thanks Tom

I worked at a foreign car repair shop years ago and the owner was big into Austin Healeys. His has a Buick 215 engine in it! Said it was a popular engine swap back in the day!

It's still popular this side of the pond although the chevy is probably more common now. There was a drag class just for rover engines that had some pretty powerful cars. I think there is vid of it on youtube. I remember one was a mk1 ford cortina that had 9second runs on street tyres

Second car I ever owned was a 4 door 1962 Buick Special. It had a 4 barrel 215 with a powerglide which I promptly exchanged for a 3 speed manual. Loved that little car!

I'm involved with a place called MG Ltd. a maintenance, restoration, and race prep shop. I have been involved with the installation of 215/Rovers in half a dozen MG B, a TR-7, and currently a bug eye Sprite. I love the Rover Fuel injection Plenum. It looks like a miniature version of a CanAm car.

You are a blessed man Don to have a job like that, and that's some fine engine. That's what hurts me a lot in my engine detailing. I don't always know what is what and correct so I have to just try to make it look good. I do a lot of research but that doesn't always help. Nothing takes the place of hands-on.

Sometimes I'm installing engines pieces that I don't know what they're called or don't know where a cable connects to but I try to replicate a combination of pics.

Sadly those stacks are enclosed in an aluminum box/plenum with a removable top. Some tops are ribbed, some say Rover, V-8, MG, or Triumph. My favorite are home made clear Lexan.
