Guys/Gals
Has anyone decanted Testors Wet Look Clear and sprayed it through an airbrush? What was the result? I just used it on a kit and I like it. The only thing I don't like is that the can seems to fluctuate pressure and spits some. I am constantly having to shake can after each pass to get a descent spray. I am thinking about decanting it as I need it and use in my airbrush and need some input.

Hey bud. That's my for its brand of paint right there. I've used every color and I just love the way it set, how fast it dries, and that wet look is outstanding! The only time I've had problems is when it gets old on me. I've bought lots of cans at once and for the ones I didn't use fast enough, they seemed to have leaked something clear at the bottom of the can. It dried off and I broke it off the can and you couldn't even tell it happened. but it did sputter on me a few times and that would include the Wet clear can as well. Never thought about decanting only because of how great it's worked the majority of the time. Now I'm curious to see if others have.

And just what the ____ is decanting? smiley-confused005 smiley-confused005 smiley-confused005
Sounds like making someone who always say they can't to instead say they can
Reminds me of a saying my Grandpa always used to tell me:
Those who CAN.............DO
Those who CAN'T...........DON'T

CC, decanting with modeling paint means to spray the paint from the can into a jar or right into the airbrush container and spraying the paint onto the model with the airbrush instead of from the can. That way you can control the paint better and do airbrush tricks that you can't do with the can and still use the same paint.

I have the same problem, what I do is shake the can with every couple of passes and wipe the nozzle off with a rag with a little lacquer thinner on it

I've never used there wet look clear but with a couple of the 1 coat colors I've noticed they run really easily compared to others. And I've even had air bubbles in the final paint job. But that for some reason is the darker colors like the blue and black only.

I've NEVER used the One-Coat stuff, yet, I myself LOVE and use MOST of Testors paint, I have a HUGE selection of their paints, mostly for Air Brushing, BUT I have used their standard Line sprays, in the 3 ounce cans, NEVEr yet have I had to decan a color.....As said, most work GREAT, I have only to have trouble if the nozzle clogs and a simple soak on mineral spirits clears that up.....ONE time back in the 90's, I was spraying "Dullcoat" from a can, that the can ran out of propellant, and then I drilled a hole to drain the can of about 1.5 ounces of paint.
Other then that I've never had to decan any Testors paint, AND upon contacting them, they replaced that one bad can without issue!

It is pretty thinned out, mike and it does run if you spray it too close or spray too much. You need light coats for this brand but if used right, it gives amazing results.
Hemi I think decanting is not a need but a preference to be able to control the amount of paint. Helps with paint small parts and other paint detailing without wasting paint.
