Jesse Bailey provided the inspiration for this build. He stated in my Bugatti thread how much he liked the boattail speedster's and it reminded me I have two of the old Metal Master kits, a Dusenberg and this Packard Boattail Speedster. I have heard these cars were built for the Smithsonian Institute but I couldn't verify that. This model is silver and gold plated, came that way, and the silver had a lot of patina on it that I got off with rubbing compound. It had a lot more molded in detailing than I expected and a lot of extra parts. The cross braces on the chassis and the protective plate over the oil pan were separate pieces. Lot of rivets and bolt heads and I detailed them all. I detailed as much as I could, especially the engine. Electrical connector spark plugs, detailed firewall and everything I could connect to the firewall I did. I got the serial numbers for the engine at the top of the firewall detailed and that was fun! I did my first effort with the lace on the hood and thought it came out fairly well for the first time. Carpet is Velcro. Clear coated with two coats of Future. Thanks for looking.

Cool build of a sweet car. Particularly like the engine and the lace turned out good. I will have to try the lace thing on something soon

When I did the lace I laid down a gold base, cut the lace to fit and sprayed Spaz Stix chrome over it.

Never built a metal kit I have some Metal and plastic kits , don't might sell them just haven't made up my mind yet smiley-confused005
