Everyone remembers Bob's 55 Chevy. That John locked horns with his 32 we'll everyone also remembers how Bob rolled it at the end of the movie. ever wonder what happened to the 55? I'm here to tell you the rest of the story. .... turns out that Bob didn't hurt it as bad as you would expect after a roll over. Bob started to bring it back and didn't have the income to fully bring it back so it set in a barn for several years. it set for several years until a young kid made Bob an offer for it that he just couldn't refuse. After pulling it out and cleaning it up the restoration began but not as a street car but instead straight out of that late 60's Gasser

Good story Mike. Love the '55 gasser idea. I have been wanting to build a '55 as a gasser build, so you have my undivided attention on this build. popcorn-and-drink-smiley-emoticon popcorn-and-drink-smiley-emoticon popcorn-and-drink-smiley-emoticon

Nice! I have that 53 panel and I'm itching for an idea on how to bui.d it. I'm sure your gasser is going to look bad ass!

I hope so iceman just trying to figure out how to tuck the wider tires up under it. Remember Bob had radiused the rear wheel wells for larger tires. It was quite popular to do on 55 gassers. BTW, Love the story line!

Another great idea, there is a good mix going on for this build. I can use some of your pics for references on mine I think too. Look forward to seeing the gasser done with the 55.

Cool thank you ak. Going to need to fill in the chrome molding that's on this body but that shouldn't be a problem.

No problem Mike. Hope it helps! The way I radioused mine was by building the suspension and assembling the chassis and body then lining up the rear wheel on the outside of thr body (probably easier to do with an AMT body and chassis) then tracing around the outside of the tire I made mine a bit oversized so I could add a strip of styrene around the opening and add a bit of a lip.

Mike, if you have a large drum sander for a dremmel they're about the perfect size to radius a wheel well! Just go slow on a low rpm.

I've got a dremmel with the drums but it's only got 1 speed and it's wide open lol so I will just take my time. Honestly that's why I'm bashing the 53 I tried to do that to it but kinda got carried away with the dremmel but I think I've learned from my mistake

Don't want that to happen again Mike, lol. Maybe chuck up the sanding drum in a cordless drill? That way you could have more control over the speed.

Ewww never mind I just found a picture of Milner's dragster from the 2nd movie and it has a blower on it. So I'm guessing if dragsters had them the gasser guy's did as well. That just opened the door up a little for me lol

Mike, Story line AWESOME build idea is gonna be AWESOME! ALL Great ideas and I know it will turn out! BUT some advice for your Dremel? LOVE THEM! the single speed jobs, I know a way you can make that VARIABLE speed! My whole shop is set up with them.....Dremels on the benches, (at one time 2 hung from the ceiling!) And I think when all are out, there 2 extra Dremels, in their respective cases.....(Yeah, they were and still are a shop work horse!) Anyway, go to ANY local yard sales, garage sales, flea markets, indoor outdoor, whatever (some of this is gonna be difficult this time of year) BUT, the point is, look for a Sewing machine FOOT PEDAL, that you can plug the Dremel into, there is a plug that goes into your wall outlet, and then there is another "plug" mid way of the cord, one side gets a light, that turned on with the sewing machine, the OTHER side, is the variable speed side, plug your Dremel in that one, and touch the actual foot pedal with your foot, IT WON'T come "on". Then, turn your Dremel "power switch" on, STILL it won't come "on" touch the foot pedal again once! Will respond as you add "pressure" to the foot pedal. NOW you got 2 hands to playing, and a foot control speed control and on and off switch all in one! I'll have to look, I know I got a foot pedal I just have to make sure it has the right plug in the cord! Let me know if your interested!
