I just joined last week and in my initial post I mentioned that I had bought 3 Moebius kits as my first go after nearly 50 years away from this hobby. Kits are here and I have started preliminary work on the 56 300b Chrysler. My paints should be here tomorrow and I will commence work on them in earnest over the weekend. I am very excited about this and have already been looking at future kits to buy. I saw the gorgeous Ferrari kits from Fujimi and through a bit of research it seems that the Ferrari is somewhat of a limited time frame run.
1. Does that mean I should order what I want now or will these kits be available at a later date? I really like the Italia and the Enzo.
2. Are these kits any more difficult or challenging than the Moebius, AMT or Revell kits?
3. If they are more challenging, will I be ready to do these kits after I finish my 3 Moebius or should I wait until I gain more experience?
Sorry for the base level of these questions.

Don't be sorry for the questions Dave. They are good ones. Buy anything you want now. With prices going up all the time they won't be any cheaper in the future, especially Fujimi Ferrari kits. I was like you when I started back modeling 4 yrs ago and I bought kits I wanted and high level kits because I knew I would work up to their level someday and I am glad I did. I now have over 600 kits some as high as level 5 and Fujimi Enthusiast Ferrari kits which are rare and pricey now, but when I bought them they weren't and I am glad I bought all my kits when I did. It's also a good investment. My collection of kits is worth 3 or 4 times what I paid for them but if I had waited I couldn't have done it. You can always get your money back if you don't build them especially with prices going up all the time and I am now able to build some of my higher level kits and I am glad I have them already and don't have to go and find them and pay more for them. Buy what you want whenever you can. My opinion.

Ooh good question. Here are my thoughts. 1. As with all kits. So many are made and then that's it. Years later they resurface as repops. Especially monogram, Amt and revell. Fujimi, tamiya and aoshima not so much. These kits are naturally higher because of better quality. The three latter kits I mentioned, you will never see and flash. And even seam lines are barely noticeable. This three Japanese kits are normally more scarce than the other brands being made now. I recommend keeping an eye for what you're looking for on eBay. You've bound to find a good deal. Just try to keep yourself to a limit so you don't over pay. 2. Difficulty? I would say that because of how well they are molded it's actually easier. The building is a different style that the first three kits I mentioned but the end result is great. Don't be afraid of difficulty. You'll learn more and more as you go along. 3. I would dare to say you are ready now. Like I said all parts fit perfectly 99% of the time. Möbius kits are pretty well made as well so you're actually spoiling yourself a bit. Lol. When you switch over to monogram, amt or revell you find those more challenging. I did at least.
But like Dennis said, you will eventually have more than what you can build. If I can get it at a good deal, I buy it even if I don't need it. I eventually will, need parts from it or trade it to somebody because they need/want and I get something I need or want later as well.
Don't believe the difficulty levels on the box. Let your skills tell you what you can and can't do and do something new every build. If you're looking to try something check out the tutorials we have or ask. Somebody here will know how to do it.

I agree with Big D and ice there Tennessee - buy what you can, when you can. Keep them stored in a cool dry place, out of the sun, and they will NEVER go down in value. If you go to hobby Lobby a lot, be sure to join their email club - or just get their APP - you can use a 40% coupon once each day - really saves a lot. Most of the new kits I would say I can average around 14 to 17 bucks, using the 40% daily coupon I also collect ALOT of kits on eBay - older kits. And if you have the patience, and search out and watch what you want, you will soon learn what is a good - current going price for the kits you want, in no time you will learn what a steal of a price is and when to "pounce" as I like to call it, to snag them with a max bid you can afford. (Just in case you have to pay that full bid!! LOL)
Also, using eBay, most sellers will "combine shipping" multiple wins - checkout Iceman's store on eBay as well - he always comes across some awesome kits

I have found that the level 2 kits are more challenging than the level4/5 kits in some ways as they are more difficult to detail some of them. The one that I have on the back burner I am junking the engine from as it is just not how I want it to be. Also you may find the ferrari kits a little cheaper on ebay uk as we seem to get more Japanese kits this side of the pond, so their price doesn't rise as quickly. I also found a site last night that had a lot of older kits and some weren't too bad for price, but some were expensive. It seemed to be mostly japanese and Euro car/truck kits though If anyone wants the site address feel free to pm me, I found it by mistake and am happy to share. Couldn't tell if it was a club or Store though.

I reckon, if you like it, buy it!! you will be able to put any model together by looking at the instructions, adding detail is all down to your imagination, if you come across one that is a bit challenging, stick it back in the box and try next year, we ALL learn something new every time we build a kit and look at other peoples builds, there is no better teacher than "EVERYBODY ELSE" !!

Well I ordered both the Tamiya Enzo and Tamiya LaFerrari kits with the photo etch and carbon for the LaFerrari. I'll be ready to build them some day. Lol, I am not even sure I know what photo etch and carbon is right now as it relates to plastic modeling.
