hi folks, my name is Les and I live on the Orkney Islands in the far north of Scotland.I am 37 and my occupation is looking after my elderly Granny and my Mother who has heart problems so I tend to have more spare time than most folk, but use models as a way to relax. I find this kinda odd cos its infuriating some times but what the hey, its still fun. I have only recently got back into building models after a 10 year or more absence. I have nearly completed my first new build which is on my flickr account along with one of my old builds. I don't have any regular style that I like to build as I tend to do a box stock build and follow it with a parts box special. My tastes are firstly VW's but I dont limit myself to VW. My current build is a Revell Ford Escort RS1800 mk2 (near box stock) which I am building to look like what the older kids had in the 80's when I was growing up. My next build is a 1/25 early chevy pick up on a 1/24 kenworth chassis (both old builds that died in the attic) with a bit of a kustom style. Its looking like this build will be more of a curbside at the moment but we'll see how it goes since the chassis and engine are in pretty good shape. Still trying to set the direction this is going in a few areas but I have decided to Z the frame Hot Rod style. I may do another box stock build at the same time as there is going to be a lot of filler in this one and I will need to finish something. Here is a link to my flickr account if your interested.- www.flickr.com/photos/111449995@N04/sets/ -:thankyou for your time folks

Welcome Les. I always wanted to visit Scotland. I'm 63 yrs. old and a retired custom knife maker so I get to work on models everyday and I agree with you they help me relax. You'll have fun in here, and more importantly, learn a lot. Great modelers in here and they are a great bunch of people too. Anything you need help with they are more than ready to offer any help you need. That includes me also. Looks like you have good ideas on the ones you are working on look forward to seeing your builds.

Welcome aboard Les! Always great to have some more to add in all the fun!
As said, a lot of friendly guys here and we all sort of "hang" out even with distance over the computer shows a bit more interest then elsewhere even locally to any one of us I bet!
-Out to hunt down the PERFECT build is always the fun of it, right? Have fun, look around, post up some builds, and enjoy!

Thankyou for the kind words. The 1/1 vehicles are from my local show here in the Orkney Islands. For me it would be better with more custom stuff but its still a fun day and most times i can find a kit or diecast in the car boot sale (swap meet in the US)for not much cash

Welcome stitchdup - sounds like you have tons of ideas, cant wait to see some new builds sir. This place is awesome, when you get down and frustrated, they pick you up. When you feel on top of the world, they pat ya on the back, when you feel like a cold one, they send you a 12 pack - JUST KIDDING! LOL But honestly, this is a wonderful club, look around, enjoy, and again
WELCOME ABOARD!

Many good model clubs on the web, and this is one I often come to. However one builds 'em, we LUV the fotos and are positive in assessing builds. Tho I no longer build, having lost the passion for it decades ago, I enjoy these sites. I have one of the Escort kits from Revell that was meant for the Euro market. No opening hood or engine, but emergency lights and I think some Post Office decals. Also, in VWs, the Golf is one of my faves, and I've seen models of them as anything from home racers to gray primered rat rods to cool racers. Thanx for joining, the Orkneys ARE way out there and the internet is a great way to share a hobby, WELCOME!
