Thanks Paul. I know what you mean, I read somewhere in here how many kits you have, way more than me and several times I have bought a kit and then moved some kits and discovered I already had that kit. I have also moved kits and found kits I didn't even know I had. I imagine it's the same for you.

CC, Some folks not-in-the-know think models like this are kiddie models. Not so if they are done right. I'm glad you liked it.

Dennis and CC, you both know i was a real car modeler meaning make them as they were from real life, 1:1, BUT this whole "show car" or kiddie build you mentioned got me....... I'm working on one RIGHT now, thats a "Kiddie build" that will remain un-named as its headed for a MOTM build......BUT my only secret give away to it.......... its SCRAP BUILT, the whole thing! Built from all sorts of Scrap parts laying around....
Threads like this one is what has been fueling it, and then I just said you know, to heck with it, and off I go... I was and am working on another one thats also for a race, which is being done in the shadows....

Good for you buddy, good for you. I've been waiting like a little bird with my mouth open to see more of your work. I can't wait ti see your creation. I know it will be super cool! My wife and I are working on a scratch built big "Outhouse Buggy" with a scratch built outhouse from real wood and it looks great. I am building the frame and all and a BIG BAD ASS HEMI. You'll love it!

-You know, I was just looking at the "Outhouse buggy" that was the REAL CAR. and I was like yep, I can see me "hicking" that all up to be Hemi powered LOL BUT it wasn't a model, the REAL 1:1 car! LOL I have to say the one Bathtub buggy I seen had a "terlet" as a drivers seat.......... I thought about it, but, this one I'm doing is a high priority, as my time for it is limited so....I'm going as about the speed of light as I can, my hands really are NOT that fast doing these and I'm to detail oriented not to put all I can, into it.....PLUS, me being me, I've gotta add in stuff, you know? LOL I can't wait to see the rendition your cooking up for the outhouse buggy......(I have to say these "Show Cars" got to me).. REALLY, GOT TO ME! As anyone of them, can have a Hemi in it! And for me, thats easy to do!

Very nice build Dennis. I always liked this car from when I was a little wee one. Built this back when I was 8 or 9 yeas old. It was an atrocity of a build, but I loved it. Have no idea what ever happened to it. Do have the Hot Wheels 1:18 diecast version of it now though.

Skip I don't have any diecast cars. I would like to own one of those "Muscle Machines" though. Mike said he has the 1/12 version of this model and I didn't know there was one.

Dennis, I didn't know there was a 1:12 version of the Red Baron either, that would be cool. I have quite a few "Muscle Machines" in both 1:18 and 1:64. We used to race all scales of die cast cars and I still have the few of those I raced, some Muscle Machines. My one buddy has the drag strip track we used with electronic timers still, stored in the attic of his shop.

How do you race them Skip? Aren't they just die cast models?

They are full rolling as a lot of diecast are. The trick is getting one that will go straight down the track on it's own, so you would find ones without steerable front wheels. If you are familiar with Pinewood Derby car racing the Cub Scouts/Boy Scouts do, that's similar to how we did it. Or like the old Hot Wheels track, only bigger. A sloped track with a starting gate and electronic tripped timers. I found a few pics of the track at one of our earlier outings. I know I have more, but I think they are on one of my other computers. here are some so you can get an idea of how we did it. This is the staging lane table These are a couple of the "modified" cars with machined aluminum and delron wheels, custom chassis and axles, and a maximum weight limit of 5 pounds.

That's a nice looking Cuda Dennis. Looks good all slammed like that too. Be careful, those can be addictive. I quit at just over 100 1:18 diecast and roughly half of them are Muscle Machines. The racing was a lot of fun. Don't know where anyone else is, or may have been, doing the same thing, we just started talking about trying it at a cruise-in one night and it led to us building the track. We were doing a tour of setting up once a month at a different home or business garage every time. We have had guys asking us to start it up again and we have been thinking about it again.

Skip I'm not going to be able to buy one of these Muscle Machines they are too pricey for me but I would like to have just one in my collection. I would like to get one with the big blown engine sticking out of the hood.

Boy does that bring back memories. I remember as a kid the local Hobby shop had Slot Car tracks. One was a figure 8 then later they set up a scale 1/4 mile track.. Spent many hours racing that figure 8 and 1/4 mile.Would be fun to have a track around but have not seen any. And probably killer expensive these days anyway..But still tons of fun in those days ! !
