That's better than winning the lottery. Any additional stories to confirm the story? If it's true, lucky guy!

This reminds me of a lady I saw on TV that I believe inherited her dad lands. He used to own a dealership and when he wouldn't sell the cars before the new ones came in he would just park them on his land. Or maybe it was when he closed. Either way, cars from the 50s with less than 100 miles on them. A bit of rust here and there but you can imagine the great condition some of these were in. Some folks of course would sneak in and steal the chrome but many cars were intact.
Another one was a gentleman selling off his stuff. He would buy and buy cars and motorcycles and then just put the in his barns. Lots of cars from the 30s with just dust. This guys collected everything from cars to motorcycles to radios and all the way down to clocks. There was hardly any space left in those barns. I'm sure he made a ton of money when he auctioned. The crazy stuff is that when they were taking out some of those cars and bicycles, with a little oil here and some gas there, they would start right up!

i seen that one too Iceman, he was a dealer who always paid cash for the new models that came in making them effectively "his" cars. the ones that didn't sell, he took home and parked in the yard/barn/etc. as to the original i posted, as far as i can tell from 3 different articles, it's legit. but i can't promise it smiley-confused005

-Drives me crazy! I know right NOW where there is 3 barns OWNED by the SAME person choke fulla Mopars from the late '60's early '70's. nothing more then dust on them and I KNOW they all run! The barns are damn near air tight........ so........ (I've been in 2 of the 3) so.....BUT he won't let me touch or take pictures.....I will say, tho its not far from my home place in Pennsylvania.... sadly I don't think any one of the cars in any of the 3 barns have been ran in no less then 20 years, BUT all of them every year gets registered and licensed!
I know the 2 barns I was in had at least 2 each of the year 1970. one had a 426 Hemi '70 Super Bee (MY ALL TIME favorite car) and the only way I know this? IT HAS all its engine badges on it, from factory, and NO PITTING! For what I could see, through the door window has 18 miles on the Odometer! FROM 1970!
Talk about a barn find when he passes, I keep a watch on it so that I know if and when it goes, I'ma goin to that auction if it kills me! My Dad worked with the guy at "Fleetwood" (manufacturer of Camping trailers that was "Coleman" in Somerset, PA!!!!!!!!! Matter of fact he paid his respects when my Dad passed, I talked with him at the funeral!

This sounds like the story about a building in Portugal that was on the internet three or four years ago. The story is a little different, but the building, cars, and being in Portugal are the same.

Man John, maybe he'd let you take for a drive if you visit enough, at least some pics I would hope. Yes Ice I go and visit EVERY TIME I'm back in PA. just 'cause.....This guy was my Dads boss at Fleetwood, and a good family friend to boot so, he basically watched me grow up really and to that extent did not live all that far from my homeplace. Granted when I was a kid, I used to fish in the pond he had on the farm, I bet the last time I went fishing there, was the last time he ever "stocked it" so....... Can't imagine now how big some of the large mouth Bass got over the years......I know way back when I took 16 and 20 inch long fish out of that water..... NOW today hell with the fish and fishing, I'm more interested in what he has stored in the barns! To add to the story, he actually has 5 barns on the property but 2 of the 5 are REAL in-use "barns" that he uses for the farm.....The other 3 has the cars in them....I keep tellin him, someday man, Tony, I'll get to ride on one of the damned Super Bees..... He just smiles! I'd kill to have any one of the Mopars he has in there....I do however know there are a hand full that aren't Mopar tho.....I know of at least 2 'Vettes, one a '65 (I think) and the other is a '70 or '71, (NOT sure) and I know there is a single Chevelle in the means of this all a '70 and then right beside it was a '70 El Camino SS 396, Also ALL nice cars, And I believe there is a single Falcon in there but I didn't get close enough at the time to make it out as I seen it from a distance.... I KNOW theres a damn fortune in those 3 barns, you better believe it and as far as I know, ALL stock from the year they are, NEVER changed! I BET MONEY I AIN'T GOT that ALL of them, have the year of car they are, plugs, wires, even oil! And filter! I know for the 2 'Bee's I seen, they were bone stock, but road hammers............ one has the 426 Hemi in it and the other has a 440, I just don't know which set up the 440 might be as there was no "badging" on it....IF my Mopar memory serves me right, there was a GRANT total of 4 YES 4 1970 Dodge Cornet "Super Bee's" made with a 4 speed, pistol grip shifter, powered by the 426 Hemi with dual Carter 4 barrels. and he HAS a factory untouched one STOCK out of that 4 of them made all matching numbers...... I can not put words to describe this, I mean this car is ultra rare to be in the shape its in and the condition as a matching numbers car, I know of one that sold out your way Ice a real one and it went for over a million, CASH! AND the sad part? It wasn't a matching numbers car! I set here typing this and could just melt! Just knowing it......I've talked with him when my Dad passed, as he invited my entire family to the farm for a dinner and we went and he then took me out and said, remember these, I looked and said Tony how the hell could I forget? ? We got to talkin a bit on some of them as we walked through and he seen my interest still remains with the '70 Hemi Super Bee, as he mentioned it, "You never changed, you liked that car YEARS ago and by the looks on your face, you still do" I replied, you know it man, I just got "older" and from the first time till now, able to drive it from the first time I seen it! He laughed! Heres to wishing, and hoping maybe someday! I WON'T loose hope on that one....... big-drooling-smiley-emoticon He told my whole family when in town again to stop by, we're always welcome! Which I have to say was a GREAT gesture, as he really is almost family, Christ my Dad worked with him for 37 years, and was just one step on the ladder under him for the last 14 years working for Fleetwood!

Being that its in the Mirror newspaper from the UK I would say its not completely true. Its really not a newspaper, more like unperforated toilet roll. I saw a similar story about a forest in possibly Sweden that was full of vintage cars that were all scrap, and also one that was discovered in Poland around the time the Berlin wall came down. Like someone said above there is no way someone wouldn't look ion a barn before selling a property. In one of the UK classic mags a few years ago there was a story about a warehouse on I think it was Cyprus (My cyprian history aint good) in the section between the two powers that has an old vehicle importers (possibly ford) full of brand new cars that are stuck in no mans land. It was a long time ago I read this article though so I may be wrong

Stitch, That article tho makes me wonder where they got the pictures from showing all the cars! Think it was "set" and then photo'd for news worthy antics? As I'm sure you know all the guys would have bought that issue, just to read about it, and thats makes it "print worthy" to the thought of how many copies would be sold!

I'd think it's just pics from a genuine barn find that have been recycled over the years. I'm sure you've all seen the barn/warehouse in the US full of Corvettes that was a magazine competition prize. From what I remember it was one of each year of corvette from 53. Again not sure of too many details but I think it was more likely to be genuine than the Portugese story. I think I seen the corvettes on bangshift or possibly myrideisme. I would be more inclined to believe these as the facts would be easily checked for truth. You know how car guys are, big collection of magazines so someone would sit and look or even remember the competition. Maybe due to these things being more likely in the US I just find it more likely as its such a big place it would be easy to hide a lot of cars. Saying that there was a house sold in the Orkneys that had a delivery miles MGB and low miles MG Midget inside, but that was a guy whose estate was auctioned after his death and he was a little odd. Both cars had rotted out though but still sold. Even if these sort of stories aren't true they still give entertainment and make folk dream of what could be. You never know whats in the local crazies shed.

Not to mention nowadays, people can photoshop anything. I've seen a lot of crap on newspapers. This one is still a mystery sort of.
Can't wait to see pics of the planet we find full of abandon cars too.

hey Stitch, it was a contest on VH1 and it was one vette per year from 53 til then(mid/lates 80's). the dude who won ended up selling the whole lot to artist Peter Max who was gonna do an art project with them but never did. they have just recently resurfaced.

that part i dont know Iceman. but i can tell you VH1 paid a little over $600,000 for all of them. and also that the original winnert was to get a percentage of any profits derived from the art project.
