Another Fantastic build Ice... The Custom Interior is Killer, the Console is defiantly wild along with the flocking and detailing. Once again your BMF is Great work..The Engine and compartment are Great as well as the chrome work on the undercarriage.. Beautiful Build . Once again Great Job..

Thanks Tom! Appreciate the words. FYI though, no BMF on this. Took my jar of Testors Silver/Chrome paint and used a toothpick to paint the trim, gas cap cover and door handles. The scripts are PE pieces.

Ice, You outdid yourself son, This is really a fine build. Wonderful detail everywhere. Reflection of the engine under the hood is a very nice touch. Great interior detail and engine compartment. Just everything. Not a flaw anywhere. I really like to use the Testors S/C paint also. What is the body paint? It is really sharp. Never mind about the paint, I found it. I need to try the One Coat lacquer I hear a lot about it but haver never tried it. What primer do you use with it?

i'd bet money Iceman uses the buck-a-can stuff from walmart...happens to also be my first choice. it's also what i've used under the one-coat laquers with good results i should also mention that i didn't spray the one-coat directly over the primer tough, once there was a black base and the other time a silver base. my $.02

Thank you guys. I really appreciate it. I had a lot of fun with this one.
Frank is absolutely correct! I use the cheap primer from Walmart religiously. It went up in price and their cheap brand is now called Color Place I believe. I've tried using automotive primer, alclad primer, but by far this cheap stuff is my favorite. As far as I know, if Walmart keeps selling this cheap stuff, I will keep buying it.
I always spray the One Coat Lacquers right on the primer. Does it give you a different color with a different base, Frank?

not really a different color as much as tone/brightness of the color you spray. for me it was Testors lime-ice and the two builds were my christmas exchange build last year(revell gran turismo)which had the black base and my 57 zinger was the white base. hope that helps

Ice all I can say is..........you really brought the colors together nicely since i seen this one last! You only had the body painted with the red stripe, AND had the center console in place but not painted or any detailing done to it in the interior.... NICELY DONE MAN!

Thanks Frank. I'll have to try it out.
Thanks John. I wasn't sure of the colors when I painted them. Some folks also thought, and may still think, hat it wasn't going to work. For a show car I think I can be ok with it. A little over the top but I'm ok with that too.

Yeah, thats why I said, I remember you had questions on the color and how you were going to bring it together............. then I didn't see much for posting after that on this build and remembering that, I had to say, it all came together nicely!
That custom fitted console turned out killer too! Over-the-top, not to far over the top. BUT, just enough to be "eye catching" and be an interesting build all at the same time! Not often you get that all in the same build!
NICE work!

Iceman, I bought some Wally-mart primer, I use different primers but the Rust-o-leum gave the smoothest finish, but I'm wanting to duplicate your paint work. I'm going to get some one coat when I get bucks again. Being on a fixed income sucks at times. The more I look at this build the more I see things I didn't see before. Always the sign of a good build. You know, the competition in all the contests this time around is fierce. I had hoped the first time I entered there wouldn't be much competition, and maybe a few duds although I have yet to see a dud in this forum, but not so. Everybody in all the contests have put up some really fine work. Really good to see.

Oh you're too nice Dennis. Believe me there are flaws here and there. Walmart primer is how I save a bit of money. It certainly won't lay down super smooth but I use some sanding sponges with 180 grit that gets them pretty smooth. I'm alway iffy about how smooth primer should be. I'm always afraid the paint will not grab on to the primer. I've seen chipping, both, down to the primer and down to the plastic. Ruins a paint job so much. If I can run my finger tips on the body and not feel major bumps, I lay the paint on it. Now that I always try to get it smooth!!
I'm planning a hot rod with only primer so that I will sand down to 12000 grit. And spray some flat clear to avoid the fingerprints.

Outstanding Ice! The colors, the details, the interior. Like the mirrored bottom hood. Of course the Inca Gold is one of my favorite Testor's colors, so that was an excellent choice. Awesome looking show car. I love it. two-thumbs-up-smiley-emoticon

Very cool build, not nearly enuf customs around these days!! Vital on ragtops is interior detail. Yours is as good as it gets, tho I have seen tiny keys in the ignition on occasion! Thanx for putting a smile on my face as bright as your paint!
