Well, after the setback on the 57' i pulled out a seconds Smoothster kit, stripped the parts of all the brushed paint, and decided to open up the boot (trunk) aswell, thats about as far as i got tonight. got a couple of days off , so might get a fair bit dome on this for a quickie build.

Not to shabby! I got a bit done too as you seen. not to shabby on my end either plus, I did a few small craft projects for the wife to keep her moving on a few things that I had to spray paint (her projects) she does all the work but the spraying, I do that. she doesn't care to learn how to use a spray can! But ohh well that gives us some together time in the shop......
The opening trunk, no "rumble seat" then?

No rumble seat mate, just a tidy trunk area, lined out to match the interior i think.

Thats cool Dale! Something just a little.....different! Nothing wrong with that!
As far as Boyd goes, I never seen these kits for sale anywhere locally or when I lived in PA....... They like a normal kit then, or? I know "Smoothster" is merely cause the way the body was smoothed out, but, is that all? I imagine it had some extra special motor too!

Yeah, late model wank factor injected Vette motor, will do something with that for sure, but it does have a full tube chassis though, lots of potential i think.

BEAUTIFUL SUNNY DAY down the bottom of the world today, PERFECT for paint. Base coat of black, Then, i blew some metalic silver from about 2 feet away, so it just hazed the black. (bit hard to see though). Also a light silver stripe over the centre. Then mixed some aqua blue with some clear, so it became more of a wash than a solid color. The chassis and basics of the engine. Can't complain about the amount of silver flake in my paint, this was left on the bottom of the jar.
And a quick mock-up.
and no, the brake caliper will NOT stay pink.

I love that teal Dale! You add yer own "Metal Flake" Lucky guy to be able to do that! It's only a high metalic silver Auto Acrylic from my local auto paint store mate, $20 for half a litre, lasts for years mate, it makes a great base for Candy paints too.

Thank you CC JB and Ice, it is a pretty simple kit, and as i did not really bother modifying much, it flew together, should be done tonight i reckon.
