I was a custom knife maker for 30 yrs and modeled on the side. I now model full time. I am new to forums so I may need help getting around. I spent 6 yrs in the army during Viet Nam and am a disabled vet. I love modeling, 95% cars, and detailing engines. I was referred here by Iceman. Good fella. Looking forward to learning and having a good time. Thank you
I changed my name from HCK to Big D. HCK was my company name and it's gone so I decided to use Big D. Getting old sucks you know.

Have a look around, ask questions and really, HAVE FUN is what its all about, and we all (I think i speak for everyone here) post pictures of your work, we all are interested in what the other is doing, worked on, or rebuilding no matter WHAT skill level!

Big D, just noticed that your a knifer, awesome. I have been rebuilding old beaters / vintage knives since I gave up on models lol ! Mostly I liked to customize old TL-29's into single blades with nicer bone handles, then I'd sell em or give em away. Funny, I sold all my plastic to get into knives 5yrs ago, now I'm thinning out my knives to get back into plastic. forehead-slap-smiley-emoticon
Doctor put me on blood thinners, now I'm not allowed to play with sharp pointy things. Funny how doctors (and wives) do that ! So back to plastic we go.

Duster, wives and Dr's are like that. I did my share of the beaters and all. What really threw me was old pocket knives. Restoring pocket knives is a lost art. There isn't anybody doing it so I learned how to do it and when word got out I could fix pocket knives people came out of the woodwork with grandpa's old knife and suddenly I had so much pocket knife work I couldn't get anything else done. I never dreamed so many people wanted pocket knife work done. If I had quit everything else and just worked on pocket knives I could have made a very good living. Things aren't easy to work on either. Takes special tools and know how.
