Odd looking car, however, NICE start on that one! This car, anyone know what the base model was? I mean like Buick, Olds, or? I do not know what the actual car was built from!?

'66 GTO, WELL, I knew it was one of the "big" cars from the 60's I just could not and still don't "see" the GTO in that car, a few body lines sure, but WOW what a make-over! After the '66 GTO was made into the Monkey Mobile, did it have "GTO" on it? I mean as the real car?
VERY interesting "Show Car"....

Hi all here is an update on yet another kit I seem to be unable to do a decent job of. the decal is too big its supposed to fit inside the door and its supposed to say The Monkees not just Monkees, oh and its supposed to be yellow not gold. none of the engine parts fit correctly there is no radiator or hoses for the engine. if I cant build a decent model soon I think I will give up altogether.

i think it's lookin good KP! and i think i can speak for many members when i say that we all have builds that we just cant seem to get right. just remember, you are your own worst critic. we are all our own worst critics.

Agreed with Frank,.....Models are a image we all propose to look as we see them, no matter if built to look as tho on the box or not, sadly, things you explained here, are from the parts supplied! Thats not your fault by a long shot!
Don't give up man, its really fun to try and become "better" modelers, IN OUR OWN HEADS then the outlook from others.....Its fun right? Frustrating, SURE! WE ALL have that every now and again, even to those of us thats been at it forever, I just had a 'bout go around with a damned motor that just would NOT take paint, turns out, wasn't the paint at all, it was the damned resin reacting badly to drying paint, come to find the resin mix I have is old and is really no good, SO, there goes $60 in the toilet, but, I figured it out and working with company who sells it as its not a month old in my hands!
It had me, I was pissed, but then again, here you are messing with something box stock, we all have modeling trials and errors, BUT thats what the hobby is about, AND when you over come them, then its really pleasing!
And as said, we really are our own worse critics! (I KNOW I am!)

That happens to the best of us man. really, I had a 'bout of it last week that seemed to go on and on forever on a damned motor I'm building, freakin think (STILL pisses me off) BUT, I kept at it till I got over the issue and figured it out.....
We all have days sometimes even weeks that strawberry and nothing but comes down the pike, it sucks, but when you strive to forge ahead on the issue, its pleasing later on to know you did!

lookin good! how did you solve the engine placement issue?

Post by kpnuts on Oct 10, 2014 13:41:34 GMT -7
I didn't solve it the blower hides it, but you could never drive that car the blower only sits half way on the head. Apparently the it was a kit cobbled together from lots of kits at the time.
