OK. so gonna try this again, needed a break from Angel, and Death Punch just pissed me off, so like I got 4 of these, so I thought I would go a lil different with this, and I already have a full kustom going, and a pro touring kustom, how about just a plain simple, pro mod, yeah. so may I introduce ya to Warmonger, already have the engine, found a complete one in a far away hidden box, found a few engines actually, I think I have the tubed part of a pro-mod soff seal chubby, from there I will scratch build everything else I need, have an idea of paint, not sure tho, but not just gonna go dead black on this, prolly 2 tone, this will be SO SIMPLE, I might have it done by Monday, lol. KK. I used my simple frame jig to square the body. guess I should ask, ya wanna see blow, by blows, or just, when I get done with a section? wouldn't want to waste anyone's time.

Looks good. I'm sure the filler will get rid of those seam lines. Something we overlook often. Lots of people here detail their engines. Check them out in the Progress threads.

K, as ya know I modified the plenum, well here is something every builder should know, or practice, it will save much aggravation and time, it's called pining, use whatever ya want, I use piano wire, it's strongest when short, and will keep the part from snapping, when it comes time for fill and clean up: WARNING CARPY PIC, but ya will get the point, on a flat surface, just use the hobby saw to cut a groove, then take a triangle file, and open it up, check to see that yer wire sits flush with the surface, without cutting all the way thru the part, once laid, I use super goo, then file till flat, after it set's for about 15 min, I go over it again with 2 part 5 min epoxy.:

OK, started the work on the 429 Semi Hemi, dunno if I actually wanna go blown, or natural, anyway 2 hours prep, ready for fill and prime, went a head and cut the blower plenum, to fit the block: Now is just me, or does anybody else go this far in building their engines? if so then lets see some examples of just how far ya go... I myself have yet to NEED ANY filler on an engine I build! WHY might you ask? WELL if the engine is factory to a model kit, NOT resin plastic, a GOOD plastic welder, will take the place....ADD the glue to the entire seam, allow it to flow into the plastic to be joined, once in the seam, all the way around, "smear" the 2 parts, around just slightly to get a "weld" bubble, and then let dry....cure? ONCE cure, NOT just dry, file the seam with a finish file, "smooth cut" or finish cut file, and then voila the 2 parts no longer have a seam! IF your assembling resin parts, and use good 30 second (one minute) epoxy as i do, do the same, "smear" and let cure, 5 minutes later, your able to file the joint smooth! The Plastic Welder, I use is made locally to me by Ambroid, and I have to say its one of few plastic welder type glues, I've seen that works on Lexan, with out the need of a catalyst! Voila, your done! I'm not sure I'd "pin" anything, as if your drill isn't dead accurate, your going to make a serious bunch of bends and twists in the piano wire and its going to cause "spring tension"... in time the glue fails, your part will go flying as that "pin" acts as a propeller, to make the small part fly away when the glue fails! I have a 26 year old '69 Dodge Charger that was a Warner Bros. Promo-model made by AMT-Ertl, and it has yet to loose a single part, and its traveled over 700 miles from where I grew up to where I live now! PLUS, both my Step-Son and my daughter has played with it....... Sadly, get good glue, and use it the way its meant too, and all that pinning your doing is not needed!

So anyway, was digging around yesterday, and found all the parts to my pro mod engine, yeah go figure, a month after I looked the first time, so I'm still up in the air about either blown, or natural, will take some mock up pic's see what ya guys think. Does anyone scratch gaskets for their engines? or is that just me, yeah I even make my own fittings, ya will see on this engine, as I wont do any kustom work on the body, most the detail will be in the engine, and the aluminum work, lol no not tin foil Got to thinking last night, how kewl would it be, to turn one of these into a kustom hauler, I have the blue prints to a ramp bed, and of course the bed itself. already have all the parts to beef the frame, or well, lol to build a frame, had a wrecker with a 391 in it, ordered from the factory as a tow truck, F375, hmmmmm, might just do that too, heck got enough parts to do it, I think that would be kinda kewl, what do ya guys think? ? Welp no pic's, just took a couple, and ya can't see it the way I do, so just gonna have to wait till I anodize the blower, and the bowl's of the carbs, an yes the all the other stuff, so pretty much after it's done. And I found a '65 Chubby truck frame, in my parts closet, amazing stuff in there, just a narrowing, and extension, and the frame will work perfect for a hauler, yep, yep...

Nice prep work ! Taking the extra time to clean mold lines and ejector pins makes all the difference. Most folks don't notice that you've done it, but I guarantee they notice if you don't ! forehead-slap-smiley-emoticon
