I've been wanting to build a hears for a while and what better time than now. I'm not sure how spooky you all think these are but it's pretty much our last ride at that point. I hate seeing them drive by. I have a few different ones in resin but my favorite one has been the classic 1966 Cadillac Fleetwood version. This is just a copy of the Johan Heavenly Hearse kit. Cheaper in resin than the original kit. I have a few ambulances that I was able to steal some parts from. Still working on getting a chassis for it. At the moment, I've opened up the hood to stick a basic engine in it. I'm thinking the Revell Parts Pak with the Caddy 354 V8 should suffice. I'm a little dissapointed but I had to glue the rear door shut. The flaws for this body were all in the rear. No way that I could've left it functioning and cover up the flaws. Don't have that skill yet. I tried but I broke the bottom lip off the body. Luckily, I was able to glue it back on and so I decided to leave it alone. Anyways, here are the pics. Although I have the resin copies of the hubcaps, I stole some originals from one of the kits I have. All washed up and ready for some primer tomorrow morning.

This should look great, i love the style of a Hearse, but hate resin, so i had to come up with something else. ( still can't bring myself to open my last original Ecto kit.). Pitty about the rear breaking, would be cool to have a coffin etc in the back.

This is a sweet build idea and a great start. Hearses are so cool, especially the older ones. Looking forward to following this build. I have owned a couple real 1:1 hearses. My wife and I used my '71 Cadillac Superior for our wedding car. Hearse owners will tell you not to let your first ride in a hearse be your last ride.

Thanks guys. I have the ambulance as well and thought about a bloody ambulance buuuuut 1) I don't want to bloody up a perfectly good Johan ambulance, and 2) I've always wanted a clean classic hearse so here we are.
Frank, I would love to see a monster hearse. Saw a few pics while researching this one.

Nice choice Ice! Can't wait to see where you go with this one!
The Caddy 354, ought to do VERY well in that old car. sadly tho, Its a shame the rear wasn't better as said, a coffin OR one thats "opened" enough to see a corpse be even BETTER LOL (Yeah, hey, I'm sick and twisted that way!)
I'd LOVE to build one of these BUT it hafta be a stretched Chrysler model for me to stick tyo my "Mopar Only" statement.....BUT thats something too, as well to think about!

Good save there mate, and nice engine work too. Hemi John, you should not need to stretch it a Chrysler wagon mate, i am sure we ALL found plenty of room in the back of a wagon when we were licensed teenagers. big-drooling-smiley-emoticon running-around-smiley-emoticon

Dale, you have a point, BUT, that was "then" this is "now".....To make a Chrysler a "Hearse"....I'd have ta find a 4 door or a wagon to make it so....to fit a coffin in it.....
Then don't ya know it be Hemi powered, really go out in style! running-around-smiley-emoticon

Thanks Hemi and DC. Don't worry about the door not opening. I'm going to try and compensate for that. Here's a quick update. Not a whole because I was taking pics for new listings that start tomorrow but I did manage to spray a coat of gloss black on it. Wet sanded the flat black and sprayed the gloss. I love how dark it's starting to look. Gives me the heebie-jeebies!

Nice work on the engine mate, and those extra coats really make it look good, look forward to seeing the "compensation" you have promised.

Nice work on the engine mate, and those extra coats really make it look good, look forward to seeing the "compensation" you have promised. Thanks DocO n Dale. Yikes! Now I feel the pressure. Well I hope I can finish it on time. I may be biting off more than I can chew but here goes. Since I glued the rear door shut, I've been thinking of something I can add to make up for it. First of I never thought of not including a casket so that's coming a bit later. But I think it needs more. So I found this pile of packaging sponges. I'm going to attempt to scratch build a mausoleum...... I did a little bit of slicing and gluing to start last night. Oh yeah and he funeral director will be present too. Wish me luck!

Thanks Paul, Dale, Doc and Hemi. Switched gears from the Nova to this one. I have to make sure I finish this one. I have to foil it but just not in the mood today so I worked a little more on the crypt. Started darkening it and added a statue on top. Took pictures in a darker setting to give it some effect. Thinking of adding pillar.... ...but not sure if they will go with the entrance. Painting them also to see if they fit or not. might just scratch them all together but we'll see.
