Guys, I've searched and searched, I'm looking for a MPC '77 Plymouth Volare...I know it was made, (I had one and lost it in a house fire some time ago) AND because of why this car is important to me is my grandfather had it and I was going to model his real car, and never got to doing it, SO, when I moved, my home place caught fire and burned to the ground, 20 years worth of collecting car models, GONE! So, instead of trying to replace all of them, just a few would be nice, this one being one of the most important as I lost Pap in 2007, NEVER to see his car modeled, I worked on the real one so...I have a close connection to him, and his car....In respect I plan to try an find this model, used, (IF I have to go to extremes to restore the model I will!) Used, needing parts, or new doesn't matter as long as its somewhat useable to do....I know the MPC kit NEVER came with the actual motor my Pap's had BUT thats OK, I have that covered now....I've molded several of the Mopar Slant 6's so.....
I'm also making a light, a REAL working lamp from a Slant 6 valve cover, that will be painted the same color as my Pap's car was, and have a chrome metal "Volare" emblem in the center of it, with a small "225" someplace to dictate the engine size even tho the valve cover will be a dead giveaway! This will be a light that will be hall way mounted on the way to my shop......Like a wall sconce.
Anyway, someone think they may have it, let me know! I'm interested....PM me on it!

Well ya do now Dale! LOL My grandfather had one just like the model....I rode in it most of my childhood and well into my adult life worked on it for him....It drove itself from my old home place to the junk/scrap yard when I was driving truck.....Sadly, I BET it did not go through the crusher, as it was in decent shape for what it was! I bet someone bought it for the scrap price and drove it home!
Its sad a car model that expensive tho, holy crap-olie!

I did notice in the description that this open kit was missing a tire, that is ok correct? I will also continue to look for others, sometimes things on eBay are ridiculous, nut with patience, I have ALWAYS been able to find whatever I needed

CC, Yeah missing tire is A OK.....I'm merely looking for a usable kit, and that is usable (I got PLENTY of polyglass tires to choose from! As for missing parts to a kit such as this, all it needs really is a complete body, hood, grille, and both bumpers, interior, with dash and seats, I can come up with as steering wheel if need be....And a complete frame, with out without rear differential. And for a change doesn't need a motor! I have a motor for it when I find everything else! As the car I'll be building will have a Mopar 225 slant 6 in it as my grandfathers, once had.....The model, actually comes with a V-8....

CC, Just had a look at the auction of this model its currently at $43.00 plus and that doesn't include shipping, I have to say at this point, I don't have the funds currently to get the cash back to you on a timely manner, unless cash AND some trading can be done, BUT, that too is 100% up to you, I'll trade all I can with parts and pieces on Mopar engines and details, even custom one-offs I make, THATS if you can handle that kinda cost, I'm just saying right now, its gotten out of my league of cost/reimbursement to you....
Thanks tho! I appreciate it if you do win it, we'll have to talk of means of repay at that time....PM me on it!

Hey bud, I got caught in a conference call yesterday here at work, just when this auction was ending of course, and did not get to bid anyways. But I do agree, that was kind of steep for that kit. I have my eyes open and will continue to search and get you one. As far as payment, no worries my friend, wasn't really expecting anything. I like to do what I can for people, and to help a brother out with a kit, that's no biggee to me. I kind of believe in karma, what goes around comes around and since I have been fortunate to have had a solid job for some time now, I like to "pay it forward" if you will when I can. That's why I donate kits each month to this club as well, makes a person feel good!
BUT, I did happen across this auction, not sure if this is something you can work with, let me know what you think, I am watching it, and of course will keep looking for the actual kit itself.

I doubt this would work for you, BUT if it does, let me know my friend!

$43 plus shipping is a steal! It's like a 50% off sale. ?but I can see where if you don't have he money you just have to let it go.

You really think Ice? I mean, I do trust your opinion, you certainly know a lot more than anyone I know concerning the value for kits. But since it was open, and missing tires, I kind of thought it was a tad high. I was kind of thinking sealed it may be worth that. It still amazes me how the value of older kits can soar! Once we get our rooms changed around, and I get a few snapshots of my total collection, you will probably scream! Lol

This does work for me! LOL I'm not to skeered to take something apart to re-build it.....And so. that last one went for more then I could handle to say the least on. IF you can pull off say, $30 to $40 WITH shipping, I can handle that and have it in hand right now, BUT, thats where I'll have to top out at..... That last one, was pushing somewhere close $60 so. I would have had $40 easy, BUT, the next pay to you would have a bit of a wait unless you'da went for a trade.....BUT anyway, I'm glad was lost for a reason to me, My Grandfather would have rolled over in his grave had I paid that for a model of his car LOL (Call me cheap I guess)

Thanks to Tom AKA "coyotecrunch" made my day this morning, he got one and I'm trading him an unopened '66 Plymouth Barracuda "Hurst Hemi under Glass" for it.........
SO, this meaning, I'll be modeling my Grandfather real 1:1 car from this model....
I have ta say, there are some really good people here, Thanks Tom!
I WILL continue to look for a second one, as this one is a promotional model and needs some needed detail help BUT thats OK, I'm up for it......The second one I hope to come by a model kit and not the promo version....
NOW, I just have to figure out what frame I'll need to make this a "model" so to speak....
