Thats AWESOME to know! I'll be investing on a can or so of it for that rate of easy work to remove the chrome! Does it by chance "harm" little details or no? You can also use bleach or purple power to strip chrome and they don't hurt the plastic at all. Steve, that engine came out great! No, I been using it for years and no harm at all. I have been a subscriber to "Scale Auto Magazine" for years and that's where I learned about Easy-Off removing chrome.

Agree with EasyOff to remove chrome. Works great after only a few hours.
This engine looks good. The blue just pops. Can't wait to see it in the bay.

Nice engine, the wires look real natural.
Good choice on the blue-on-blue, makes it look "Ford" if you know what I mean.

Very cool I like to see a save of a cool kit If you need any parts for this I have a few kits of the 66 T-bird just PM me I've thought often about rebuilding it, I have most of the parts I could use from the current 66 T-bird I'm building except the engine. I appreciate the thought and if I do I will, thanks...

...I love that intake for the 292 Steve!
I've got the intake, but no Carbs for on it....I'll find 'em one day. NOT for this motor tho, an older 392 Hemi, or older Desoto or the like Hemi.....50's era....
EDIT: <--- This posting "400" Mopar "400" B/RB engine, that had the largest of ANY bore size of the B/RB line of Big Blocks. This motor carried on till '79.

This is the engine I was looking at... I don't know who told Ross Gibson that was a 292, but whoever it was is wrong lol. The 239,256,272,292, and 312 all have the distributor in the rear and the exhaust configuration is like a small block Chevy. The engine they show looks more like a 352,360, 390 style MEL engine. Which would work better in the '66 T'Bird, since the Y blocks stopped in 1962 for cars and 1964 for the trucks(in the US anyhow). Here's a couple pics of a 1:1 Ford 292 Y block.. I here ya, that's what it is advertising look at the picture... lol It also shows a 50s Thunderbird in the picture. Weather or not it's accurate it's still a good looking engine, a little pricey but still nice. Tbird link big-drooling-smiley-emoticon

...Time is coming I'm molding my own dang motors, the Ross Gibsons are nice, and GREAT to look at but the same price as a complete model? I mean really, thats steep pricing....
BUT that too, is the reason I like my own choice of engines on whatever I build....That will be a offering everyone here will benefit from! Specially in trading parts for parts! LOL

Nice work on the engine. I see that the previously mentioned parting lines were removed from the transmission. The customizing on the kit original kit looks nice. Can't wait to see the next steps.

This kit has no real detail except what you can add to with after market parts like Model Car Garage, Detail Master etc. All detail is molded and badly at that... cant-believe-my-eyes-smiley-emoticon

Nicely done for a factory motor! (You always see these amazing looking motors at times), and come to find its a replacement that well cost more then the whole model new did! (Just amazes me on the cost of a Gibson engine!) When if done right any factory motor can be made to look as good as any one of the Gibson engines.....Plus, I've heard some off color comments on the quality of the resin work done on those engines....

Looks great Steve. That blue makes the engine pop.
Gibson engines are some of the best resin I've ever worked with. I'll take one of those over any other aftermarket engines.

Lookin' good I must say!
Ice, I haven't gotten a "Gibson" to assemble, but, I had to say a few times, I've heard they don't do much in the way of chrome and a single guy mentioned that the heads and intake didn't fit well together, to the block and needed a lot of file work to fit right, not sure if this was a Gibson or not BUT the builder mentioned Gibson in the part I had read....
Sadly, I think for what they are, and knowing how their made, I think there just a tad pricey....I have to get at least one to assemble for myself to make a judgement on them!

Well, I really don't want to hijack Steve's thread so I'm sure it can be discussed, if it hasn't already, on a different thread.
