-I still say its different to see a 'Vette wit ha 6 cylinder (I nkow they made 'em that way) but seems to me that a 'Vette, was always connected with "power" so, I guess its one of those things to expect a V-8 maybe? I'm not sure how to explain it.....
I bet tho, one like this built to have a V-8 of some sort not necessarily a big Block mind you, but a performance small block would be a bit different.....\
Anyone know in real life if Chevy offered the 'Vette with a V-8 in '53?

That's a sweet build! I like the corvettes from '53 to '63. I have a model of each year but have only built one. It's not as good as this one.

John to answer your ? the Corvette in 1953 and 1954 only came with the 6-cyl. engine the performance part ( for Corvette ) was the three carbs a slightly different camshaft and exhaust compared to the stock 6-cyl in full sized cars and truck of 53 and 54 , the first ever v-8 from Chevrolet was a all new 265 in 1955 (first v-8 for any Chevy ) later became a 283 as so on as we know it The Small block Chevy was born !! Hope this helps

Thanks Paul.....I was unsure of it for one, BUT the V-8 as the small block Chevy was a goodun, for sure.....I'm fond of the 283 myself, I've built a couple real ones, and was not sure what was the first "small block" Chevy used for the 'Vette.....

Nice build Steve. I really like it. I have this same one started but never finished and it's the same color and wheels/tires, so my opinion may be biased. Can't remember what I was doing for interior color though, would have to dig it out and see.
Also Paul is correct on his history of the Corvette 6 cylinder. The 6 cylinder cars were automatics. The v8 was introduced in 1955 and only a handful of 6 cyl cars were built, like around a half dozen, and was the last year the 6 was available. The 3 speed manual trans introduced in 1955 and made standard equipment late in the production year making the auto an option. The 4spd wasn't introduced until middle of the 1957 production year.

Nice build. I had that kit many moons ago. Needless to say it didn't get that kind of TLC.
