This Darrell Waltrip #11 Pepsi Monte Carlo is from the two car set from Monogram in 1994. The other car was his 1982 Buick Regal Mountain Dew car. This is not a particular favorite of my builds, but I believe I built this back around 1995 or 96, I remember it because the summer I built this car, I was just about to start the second car from this kit, the Mountain Dew Buick Regal, when after a hard couple days rain I came home to find the kit, and several others floating around in my basement. After the floods were over and I was in the waist high water in my basement, I watched the car, the decals, and other kits float by me towards the by then working sump pump. As it would turn out, ALL my kits were unfortunately thrown out during the following days clean up. So maybe that is why I still hang onto this old build, to always remember, KEEP YOUR KITS HIGH AND OFF THE GROUND!

Nicely done way back then mate, good thing it wasn't a metal one. Just for the record, i can't stand Darrell Waltrip, his comentating annoys the p!$s out of me, sounds like he has had a couple too many hits to the head. (SORRY if this offended anybody). if so, what would i know, i'm just some guy from a little island called Tasmania, and never seen Nascar for real.... forehead-slap-smiley-emoticon

Hahaha - no apologies needed DC
I liked DW when he was a racer, but I must agree, I have always cringed every race start when he screams - "BOOGITY, BOOGITY, BOOGITY - LETS GO RACIN BOYS" I hate that! But he is a racing legend. Back in the 80's the comments that came out of his mouth were funny, but now as a commentator, not too thrilling. The announcer and racer I think I will forever miss is Benny Parsons. He was an unbelievable driver back in his day, and even in retirement while he was an announcer, a little known fact was that he was one of the top track testers for a lot of teams. Even at that age, he was still tearing up the track!

That's a real nice build there Tom and it has stood the test of time very well!!!
In 2001 hurricane Allysha put 5 ft of water in my house and we lost everything. Cars, Clothes, furniture. All piled up in a huge pile in front of the house. Had to rebuild the house from the ground up so I can relate to "watching it float by."

I took the exit and drove down a two lane for a while until I got to it and all I could see were walls and a gate. I was alone and tired and just sitting in the parking lot when a guy drove up in a pick-up and unlocked the gate and drove through and left the gate open. I got out when he didn't come back and walked through the gate. I didn't have to go far because in front of me was this HUGE track just spreading out everywhere. The size of it really overwhelmed me. The sun was just coming up over the wall and the light slowly illuminating the big track was like slowly pulling back a big tarp. It was a sight I have never forgotten.

I didn't build this, I found it in an Antique Shop. Dave Pearson 1969 GTO Clear Kit. Does anyone know its value ?
