Here is a project i have been working on in between the 40 ford van. It is the Revell Wheels 49 Mercury Wagon, i started by painting the wood on the sides, i did this by using a light brown paint and then used a yellow clear to give it the yellow/brown wood look have never tried this sort of painting before, i will then use the decals that come with the kit for the other areas of the panels. I have lowered the suspension just slightly. The rest of the body is going to be painted a off white colour when i can find the colour i want and i have idea of flames on the front, ( have seen one on Google done with them) may copy that, thats where the orange wheels came from. here is some pictures where i at with this : Chassis picture Thanks for looking any comments welcome, Islandrods (Graham)

Hi guy's here is a update on this build, its been a bit slow, had nice weather here in the UK (have to make most of that) have built the engine enough to fit in chassis still carbs and air cleaners to fit. bodywork has been painted, which i used a Ford Beige in the end, i have now gone off the idea of flames on the front, i like the look i have. all the wood is finished. i have painted the spare wheel cover as the body, and painted the white wall part of the tyre which is showing white and then added the wheel centre. next job is to start BMF the window trims. here are some pictures sorry guys if a couple of pictures a bit blured hope you enjoy. The wood really turned out good. I'll try to copy your method on a '49 Chevy I got. The lowered stance came out just right.

-What on earth did you use to get the wood panels? It looks like a laminate! BUT in the model world, it looks freakin REAL!
REAL NICE that is!

Thats a sweet car there. I too am going to try painting the wood when/if I get around to doing my 48 Ford. Your colour choice looks really good and the orange wheels set it off well. Nice to see more UK folk on here too.
