In keeping with the Jerry's Cherry's theme we have made the Anniversary Contest our annual American Graffiti build ! I would like to keep this as a running theme every year, but we will see how it goes. I will attempt to get three celebrity judges every year to do the judging ( see voting sheets ) and we will continue the members Peoples Choice Award. As always we will put up a great prize package and I hope that we get more participation. If you have any questions about the contest the rules or if your idea will work ask the judges ( myself or Iceman ). You can start building anytime just dont post. We will begin posting January 1st and the dead line will be May 31st with the judging starting soon there after. If we the judges notice that your build is straying off course we will message you so that you can hopefully correct it.
1. This is the Jerry's Cherry's "American Graffiti" Anniversary Build. Your car does not have to be one of the stars of said movie but must be from and built in that era. The movie depicts the summer of 1962 so no models newer then "62" also think before you build "twin turbo LS1 with nitrous" will not work try and stay period correct with your choices of tires, rimes, motors, ect. Not alot of nitrous and steel braid hose back then. Do your research !!
2. If you do choose to copy a car from the movie, again do your research . John Milners coupe did not roll on cragers !! Copy them as closely as possible and give some back story ( especially if it was not one of the star cars but yet still in the movie...example the caddie that they let the air out of the tires and shaving creamed the windows )
3. Pictures ....as always we require build pictures. Start building now if you want but take your pictures and hold them in a file till January then post them. When you are done ( some time before the dead line May 31 ) you will post your finished pics. VERY IMPORTANT the first five pictures you post MUST be the required pictures ( one side shot, one of front or rear shot, one engine shot, one frame shot, and one interior shot ) after that post as many more as you want, but those first five will be what the judges use and if you dont have a frame shot you wont get points in that category. We have tutorials on taking and posting pictures. Quality pics could make or break your build.
4. suggestion...research that era , look for cars you like customs, low riders, coupes, tri 5s, drag cars! As long as it was before 1962 it should be good.
