This is a chicken or egg question. I have to paint a car yellow with a black interior. Under the top is black so I have to spray it black. Also in the engine compartment. Do you paint the body first and then mask and flip it over and then paint the underside or do you paint the black first and then mask it off to paint the body. My plan is the black first. What say you one, what say you all?

Black is a hard color to cover with Yellow. You're going to need thick coats which might make it more challenging. I always spray the lightest color first. Which ever way you choose to go, I would recommend clearing the first color to seal it in. Then when you spray the second color, it easier to clean it up if it bleeds or you make a mistake. Use cotton swaps dipped in thinner where it bleeds. Dont wipe to hard so you dont clean the first layer off. Those are my two cents.

i personally would spray the undersides first and then the exterior of the body. my experience has taught me that I have better results that way.

I have to agree with Ice on this one. I as well do my lighter colors first. While it is masked, and fresh dried, give it a light coat of clear, as Ice mentioned, it is easier to then clean up any over sprays. Black is a tough color to cover, would take a heavy coat of light to white primer, and then you risk heavy a heavy line of paint up against your light color.

Golden rule: Always spray yer lighter kolors first, tho I'm certian I have done more then enough time the other way around, yeah black is a tuffy, just be sure ya mask off really good, if ya think ya got it, then check again.

Yep I agree, LIGHT color FIRST then the dark color.....Masking, BURNISH the tape as best you can, to a tight seal of the edge of the tape, GOOD tape is key!
I spray exterior, brush interior.....Not sure I understand the location "black" must be? under the hood? brush it with a 1/4 inch wide model brush, FLAT black....WHEN your ready for gloss clear hit the whole thing as many coats as you need to get the "wet" look your trying to achieve!
Has yet to fail me!
