I've been lurking here for a few weeks since signing up for the site and I like what I see so far! I'm a soon to be 63 year old Canadian husband and father of three great sons who has had a model car fixation for most of my life. I collect build and am interested in factory stock North American vehicles of all makes but my real interests stop in the late 70's for the most part. I mostly collect unbuilt and built cars and trucks but my interests do tend to spill over into aircraft and ships and boats. I am onmy third collection with the first one being lost in a move in 1973 and the second when our home was destroyed by fire in 1988. My current collection is larger than the first two lots combined but lacks the quality of the first two which included many old unbuilt and a few built annuals from the late fifties through the sixties.
I've had a busy life and worked long hours until it all caught up with me just over ten years ago. A mild stroke and melt down at the same time changed my life forever and I was forced to leave the work force and have never returned. But they say that every cloud has a silver lining and so does this one. Going through the fire of life's trials and tribulations is what makes us who we really are and things have worked out OK all things considered. I still have everything that is important such as my family and for the most part, my health and that is what matters.
I don't build much these days but I do what i can. Mostly, I like to hang out and encourage others and hopefully, I'll make some new friends here. I'm looking forward to hopefully doing some posting and trading and finishing up some of my projects that have been sitting idel for far too long. Seeing what other people do is inspirational and encouraging and hopefully, despite the ol' baby blues not being as sharp as they once were and a not so steady hand any more, I'll get back into things and be able to enjoy this hobby as much as I used to.
