Nice choice. Is that the color you're going with or is that what you're starting with.

I'm going to stick with that color. I'm thinking about drilling holes in the front frame rails I've saw hot rods like that before.

Do you mind me asking how you dropped the rear suspension on your rat rods?

Got my ride height where I want it. Hopefully the tires I got off evil bay will be here by the time I get home this weekend.

Easy way to get the rear in the weeds would be to bob the rear of the frame so it will fit inside the body then zee the frame in front of the rear axle. I hope that makes sense, if not I could draw you a picture to try and help explain myself better.

Great brief explanation of the process! There may be other model club sites (maybe even You Tube)with methods for lowering. "Geezerman" at a couple clubs (Skid's Place, Scale Model Restoration, maybe Drastic Plastics.) has done a lot of step-by-step builds of rat rods, as has You Tube's "Dr. Cranky." Scale Auto Enthusiast magazine's website has some fotos as well. Thanx!

Cool guys I really appreciate that information. I cut my springs down as far as I could and tucked my rear end up in as far as I could last night. I think I'm going to leave this one as is. But iv also got that resin body im going to use a vicky doner car on. Im going to have to chop the frame on that one to get it to look right.

Z'ing the frame would be the most accurate way of doing it. For the front, you can also find a piece that is already made for a lower front. Or just turn it upside down and modify so it fits. Make sense?

Yea I think so iceman. But I've already got the front and rear suspension glued in place. But with the wheels already on it will give me q better idea of how far I could drop the front end with out the engine hitting the ground.

You could zee the front rails right in front of the firewall too. That way your engine stays the same distance from the ground.

You guy's are the greatest without this forum there's no way that I'd ever even consider cutting a frame up to drop a car. But I am going to give it a shot this weekend. Its going to be Sunday before I get to it. Thank you all for your help I really do appreciate all of it.

So a little update on my little hot rod. thinking about stripping the paint and going just plain flat black on this build. What do you all think of that?
