A while ago I started building a 1:24 scale model of my car. When buying parts, I found there to be little to no difference between the 1:24 & 1:25 scale parts...I assumed it was more of a difference in phrasing than an actual difference in true ratio.
Now, I'm moving up to a 1:18 Ertl DieCast car as my base, and most of the aftermarket parts I'm seeing are being sold as 1:16. My question is...is this a similar scenario that I encountered with my 1:24 scale build? Will most of the 1:16 parts be compatible with my 1:18 body? I understand that not everything will ever fit perfectly, but I just don't want to receive my engine block and find it's comically large for my frame/underhood, or my rear end to be too large for my subframe. Any experience/knowledge would be helpful! Thanks!

No.... 1/24 and 1/25 are so close together that you can swap most parts but dont get confused because if you take a 1/24 windshield and try and put it in a 1/25 body it most likely wont fit. It gets even worse as you get bigger 1/16 and 1/8 are are so fare apart and then 1/18 Die cast is somewhere in between. I am sure there are curtain parts that may work but for the most part your 1/16 stuff is going to look larger then 1/16

In my opinion most things will transfer with those two scales. Now I wouldn't try using the 1/18 intake on the 1/16 engine necessarily, but you get the point lol. This is a car I was building a couple years ago, its a Monogram Big T 1/8 scale body on a homemade brass frame with a 1/10 radio control Toyota rear axle and a 1/14 scale semi front axle. image by ratrodfanbobcat, on Flickr image by ratrodfanbobcat, on Flickr image by ratrodfanbobcat, on Flickr Oh and the tires and wheels are 1/8 scale traxxas dragster. Hope this helps some.

Hmm =\ I guess it all depends on how you use it...looks like there's only one way to find out =รพ I went ahead and ordered the engine and rear suspension from TDR Innovations, who were kind enough to mock up my 572 Valve Covers, so everything underneath the hood and underneath the car will be 1:16, where most of the interior components will stay 1:18 (seats, roll cage, etc). This is the learning process =) I guess we'll see how things like transmission and radiator/fan work out. I'll hopefully start up a WIP thread soon. Thanks for the input!
