I think a MPC Petty Charger chassis will fit with some minor mods
I've never seen the body offered before & when he said he had one to donate I offered him something I knew he would want in return His username is MagnumGuy on the forums we're on All Mopar of course

I got to see the Magnum in person as a kid & always thought that it would carry him to the front with it's aerodynamics along with Maurice & Dale working the car

Thanks Skip! The model building has slowed down due to the better weather & me working out of town during the week. I sold one of my Papa Trucks & that cash should buy the cab kit, Polar Lights Charger & the trailer kit I'll buy a FreightLiner cab over kit for the tractor donor

Not of the cars? I wasn't meaning the truck UNLESS your planning to use the Charger body and such for inside it.....Yes?

My brother owns the last short track Mopar shortblock raced by Richard supposedly We bought parts from a guy who was connected there & raced late models from VA When Petty went full GM & his deal with the Kit Car program died the guy we bought stuff through bought the engine for the heads we got the rest
Our cars were almost carbon copies of a Kit Car only with a stock floor & firewall Kit Cars were built using original E or A front & rear frame rails

Bob, Thats some damn story on the last "Petty" short block....What C.I.D. is it?
The old "Kit Cars" were something....Most that don't know Mopar has limited knowledge on those, and those were some fun builds....I think I worked on a Duster-like "kit car" about 15 years ago!
GHK, Which car? The Dart's or the Chargers? The Chargers are a GREAT looking car, as a stock model, NEVER mind one made Pro-Touring....

It's exactly 358 & is built using a X block that Bob Glidden designed for Chrysler when he raced the Arrow in Pro Stock
That engine made 4 laps into the heat race before the oil pan got torn & a rod knocked out a piece of the pan rail

Bob, Any way the oil pan rail can be repaired? Its NOT blown, so.....? A good welder be able to "fill" in the break....MAYBE! I know one welder that works for the railroad that I bet could repair that.....

John, we bolted the pan back on it 34 years ago with the piece still bolted to the pan the same way I took it off
One of these days I'll weld the piece back in & build a 416-432 with some W5's or something for my black short bed My brother gave it to me 10 years ago along with a dozen std bore 340 blocks so actually he's storing them along with my 56 & 68 GTS

I didn't realize that the Mopar 358 was around that long! Whats the "basic" block from, I know its got to match something "stock" but be bored and or stroked differently (I don't know much about the 358's....) Weren't these the engines that were the "tops" Mopar was permitted to use as Nascar engines till sometime recently?

No the X block was only used in NASCAR for two years & Pro Stock only one year with Glidden being the only one. He developed the block
The block that resembles a small Chrysler block only with beefy mods is the R series that most use a P series head on is what they used till 4 years ago

Bob, Thats some info. I never knew.....So with the R series block with P series heads, they stopped using them in Nascar 4 years ago....Why? Mopar drop out of Nascar, right? I'm unsure of this! (I have to admit, I don't keep up on Nascar really at all anymore....so...Forgive my ignorance!)

They went with a design that looks more like the newer Hemi
I quit staying up with it after the change. I can't remember the designation for it
