Planning is always good. I usually google images and find pics of what I'd like my model to end up looking like. Mix n match sometimes. Although I do have to say that most of the time, I have to make changes right in the middle of he build due to fitting issues or changing my mind.

I normally do a little planning, mainly getting images etc of the interior and the engine. On the odd occasion I put together a build log to try and get down all my ideas that I want to do, like on the Corvette 427 I'm building. Then normally, if im lucky, the car comes out looking nothing like I originally planned two-thumbs-up-smiley-emoticon

How I plan kind of depends on the build. If it is for a contest that has a guide line, then after I decide what I am building, I will do like IceMAn does and google images. Usually I look for images to determine what colors look good, or not good, on a particular car or truck body. I have this idea that colors and shape can compliment each other or clash with each other. Other times if it is an idea that is conceived in my head, I will decide if there is a kit I can use as a base for the build, then what has to be scratch built or can be used from other kits and what those kits may be, or if there is an aftermarket part that would be desirable. Most of the time it is all on the fly and the plan comes together as the parts get collected. I may be working on 3 to 6 builds at a time, but there are possibly 50 floating around in my head being planned. That's why there are voices in my head, it takes a staff of people to keep track of it all.

I lean back in my chair a lot That's my claim to chairvision I'm like Skippy though build on the fly with builds in my mind which with my building of a huge diorama in my basement allows my mind to run amuck I'm catching back up though & my sitting in the chair in front of my table unlocks memories of builds from 15-40 years ago that I miss & want to build again I have trouble deciding colors

Myself I dont plan at all. I have been around fast cars, car shows, cruise nights etc for almost 40 years. I have seen so many cars over the years and they are still in my head and I reflect on them for my builds. I start a build by building up the chassis first and fitting the interior tub and body on it. Then it hits the shelf while I stew on what its going to look like when finished. Well, I get sidetracked and the model just sits. Thats why I have so many so close to being done but not as of yet. My latest creation in the trucks and pickups section is a good example of no plan at all and shifting on the fly building. What started out as a 7 dollar Little Red Express in poor shape has morphed into this creation I have now. Its a slammed fleetside SRT 8 Resto Mod. Still miles from done this one is on its way and will not be getting changed, just finished. This model was not even in my collection a month ago. Yet I have others that have been on the shelf for years and still not done. No rhyme or reason to what or how I build. I just 'do'. Chas.

Kimda sorta like me in one way. Circle track both paved and dirt. road tracks . Car shows, car lots (yes car lots) rebuilding and fixing towing for a while. Storm chasing, motorcycle shows. If it had a motor I was there. I always start with the motor tho.

Its actually funnt when we see what it is we want in our heads, and sometimes it even turns out the way we want it I have an idea thats been lurking for years. I wanna do an 'alternate rod', have the engine, (a Viper's V10), have an exquisite set of wheels and tires... now all I need is something to squeeze it into... Would love to put it into a 409 Bel Air but, mhhh, not the right car I think.

Think you'd have some raaather concerned citizens wanting to have a 'chat'if you went dragging in a beat up old Gremlin with a V10 engine in it. Think, it may even start a whole new subculture, GremRods... And when that happens chaps, we all point to Aristoi, tell them it was his fault and run away fast.

Ok... now im scared I just googled Gremlin Hot Rods, I think I need to take a pill! Its already started, people have been building them.
You see, If, when the Gremlin was released, it was taken out back and publicly shot, we wouldn't have any of this nonsense!

Hey, I always wondered where the back of the car went when they hacked off the rear end of a Hornet to make the Gremlin. The extra metal went to make the Yugo!!! Did you hear, they are bringing the Yugo back. An SUV version. Calling it a Wego!!!

I know, that was bad. I could not imagine a 5 are lot full of them. Considering their size must have been ALOT of them. The whole 5 acres brings what. $3995.00 X Millions. Hmmm, where are tghe cars and all that money now???
