I'm no expert, but I think Firebird was the actual model and Trans Am was a trim package kinda deal. Look forward to seeing this, my stepson loves this movie and he's only 7 lol.

Nice car will be a cool build!! The car your building is the trans am. The difference was in body trim. the shaker hood ,side vents on front fenders,The front spoiler and on the deck lid.Also the flares in front of the front and rear fenders.Think also to the TAs you would get a rear sway bar on the diff ass. had it on mine.The engines were more HP in the TAs but some FBs you could order the Hp package. I use to have a 1975 455 Ta 4 speed. Alas i gave it up for kids!! Ifin GB can get back with more it would be cool. thinking-hard-smiley-emoticon

Excellent pick for a movie car build.
The kit is a TA, DocO is correct. Why they use just Firebird on the box I don't know. Maybe licensing issues?
I had a gold '78 with the large sway bars. It was sort of an odd one. No T-tops, large sway bar option, and had the 5 spoke Ralley II wheels. I say odd because it seemed all the other ones at that time had T-tops and snowflake wheels.
One of my past cars I wish I never got rid of.
Looking good already with the painted body.
