Thanks Paul! When I was debating on which TV/Movie car I was going to build I settled on this one in part because I thought it would be an easier build! Not much chrome, no shiny paint job....just gather up a hand full of parts and assemble them into a perfect replica....foolish, foolish me! smiley-wagging-his-finger-saying-no-emoticon smiley-wagging-his-finger-saying-no-emoticon

Thanks Santa! Build away! It's been a fun build. It did take some time to round up the pieces I wanted to use! Of course you could detail it more or less depending on your wants. This is more of a shelf model, but I did want it a little more accurate than a curb side. If you want I'll try and list the parts and kits they came from once it's finished.

Hi AK the only one i could find that showed the front tilt bracket is this one. On your front frame rails just drill a hole on either side of the frame.Make up a bracket similar to the one attached to the hood. The tilt worked great. now this is the way it was made for this model from AMT but im sure you could make it work on this

cool! I'll be doing something very simular! high-five-smiley-emoticon I drilled pockets in the rear corners of the tilt frontend and added hood pin detail from a Nascar kit. Paint is done. It's gray primer with a wash of dirty thinner. I triied to leave heavy black streaks in it as well as a few thin spots to add visual interest. Here's the start of my hood box (scoop?) Windows are made from clear platic packaging cut to shape and super glued in place. I added two pieces to each front window to represent the sliding plexiglass on the real car. [/URL
One of the details I like to add to my movie car replica's is the correct licenses plates. I can usaully find them on evil-bay.

In the movie the car has a fiberglass trunk lid which is held on with 4 hood pins, so I also added these pins to the trunk. I am almost finished with this one! I lost one of the ladderbars I had for this project, but one of our members here came through with a new set! (thanks Paul! high-five-smiley-emoticon) I'll get these on and hinge the front end like Doc's Willys and I should have the finished pictures posted this week!

WTG AK love this!! Super build sir.glad i could give you a idea on the hood hinge,it was so simple it was scary!!!! Shaking in my boots! LOL! Here's my take on your hinges. I hope the pictures are clear enough. I took a short piece of spruce and drilled a hole through the center big enough for a paper clip to fit. I then straightened the paper clip and cut it to the length I wanted. I bent the ends at a 90 deg angle after sliding the pieces of spruce on it. I then lined up the bent ends of the paper clip with the center of the front clip at the front where I wanted it to tilt and drilled two more holes so the ends of the paper clip would fit into them snuggly. I then mounted the front end on the model where I wanted it and glued the pieces of spruce to the frame. I now have a working tilt front clip! Since I did not glue the ends of the paper clip to the front clip, I can remove it completely if I desire to. Although it sounds complicated, it's really pretty straight forward. Hopefully the pictures will help! In this one you can see the paper clip sticking out in the front, and if you look close you'll notice the pieces of spruce glued to the front of the frame. Here's a better shot of it! This has the front clip installed on the paperclip. Last photo in the WIP section! I still need to add a couple of details (wipers, antenna, upper radator hose, etc.) and then it'll be finished! smileyCASHS601_zps1c54a9c5

....what was the donor from for the engine? It looks like a Chevy Big Block 427, "Rat" from a Corvette,
427 was a dang good big block Chevy, no less, gave our 426 a good run for the money....
